There are talks that popular Japanese retailer Muji is opening its first Northwest store in the building. There were reports that it will occupy 15,000-square-foot of retail space on the ground floor.

Oregon State University’s new Portland center in the historic Meier & Frank Building opens in August. They completely renovated a 39,509-square foot space to house their innovative learning programs, including many that complement the expertise of top-ranked online programs.

The Meier & Frank Building was recently identified by real estate brokers in an interview with an online business journal as the top address for Portland businesses looking for office and retail space. There were two dozen Portland brokers who were interviewed.

Other than location, the brokers identified building amenities as a huge factor. "Bike storage, fitness rooms with showers and lockers and good building conference room availability are necessary," said Scott Andrews, president of the Melvin Mark Brokerage Co.

The Modera Belmont at 685 S.E. Belmont St. came in second while the Flatiron Building at 3309 N. Mississippi Ave. was third. Rounding up the top five spots were the Clay Pavilion at 120 S.E. Clay St. and the D Street Village at 3150 S.E. Division St.
