LipsigLawyers.com’s Thomas Moverman stated recently that he wishes a speedy and full recovery to a man who was injured after being electrocuted and falling from a scaffold. Moverman said that this incident was not only tragic but an example of the risks construction workers face every day by simply doing their job.

WordOnTheShore.com reported that police had received notification about a man who was possibly electrocuted and had fallen from a building. The incident occurred in the area of Ocean Boulevard and Ocean Terrace. The 23-year-old man was found lying on the ground near a scaffold but was conscious. He had been operating the scaffold about 25 feet in the air when the scaffold may have struck a high voltage power line which caused him to be electrocuted and thrown from the bucket, the report said. He was transported to a nearby hospital.

The leading causes of private sector worker deaths in the construction industry for 2014 were falls, followed by electrocution, struck by an object, and caught-in/between, according to the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). Additionally, the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) stated that the "fatal four" were responsible for more than half of the construction worker deaths in 2014. According to the BLS, eliminating the fatal four would save 518 workers' lives in America every year.

Lipsig, Shapey, Manus & Moverman have been representing victims of construction accidents for years. In one case, Attorney Thomas Moverman won a victim $2.6 million for a worker who injured his knee and back in a fall from defective scaffolding. The firm has successfully obtained millions in settlements for those victims and strongly believes in fighting for the compensation victims need and deserve. Lipsig, Shapey, Manus & Moverman is currently looking to assist those individuals who have been injured in a construction accident and qualifying individuals may be entitled to financial compensation.

“Most of these actions help to make our environment and the workplace safer so that others will not have to endure these painful losses,” said Moverman of the firm’s work.
