LipsigLawyers.com’s Thomas Moverman recently stated that an incident involving a worker falling 15 feet from scaffolding should serve as a reminder of the need for improved safety measures. Moverman stated that falls from scaffolding are much too frequent and that the worker is fortunate to have suffered only minor injuries.

Lehigh Valley Live reported that the worker had been suspended from scaffolding when it gave way causing him to fall 15 feet. Easton firefighters, city police and the Easton Emergency Squad, rescued the man from the rocks along the Bushkill Creek by hoisting him up with a ladder truck. The bridge on which he was working had been under construction for over a year, the report said.

Scaffolding injuries can be horrific and the damage done can last a lifetime or be potentially fatal. Injuries resulting from these types of accidents can include broken bones, amputations, impalement, spinal injuries and brain injuries. The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) reported that in 2010, 11 percent of all fatal work injuries occurred because of a fall to a lower level. The BLS also reported that in 72 percent of workers that were injured in scaffolding accidents, the accident was caused either by the planking or support giving way, the employee slipping, or being struck by a falling object.

Lipsig, Shapey, Manus & Moverman has been representing victims of construction accidents for years. They have successfully obtained millions in settlements for those victims and strongly believe in fighting for the compensation victims need and deserve. In one case, Attorney Thomas Moverman won a victim $2.6 million for a worker who injured his knee and back in a fall from defective scaffolding. The firm is currently looking to assist those individuals who have been injured in a construction accident. Certain individuals may be entitled to significant financial compensation.

“My clients’ lives and families are the most important aspect of what I do. I hope the lawsuits that I bring and the results I obtain will allow them to try to restore themselves both physically and personally,” said Moverman of the firm’s efforts.
