LipsigLawyers.com’s Thomas Moverman stated recently that he wishes two workers who were injured in Rhode Island a quick and easy recovery. Moverman noted that incidents such as these occur far too often and that more needs to be done to protect workers from serious injury.

The Providence Journal reported that two construction workers sustained serious but not life-threatening injuries in a downtown building when parts of a wall and ceiling fell on top of them. One of the injured workers had to be evacuated out a window on the Fulton Street side of the building and taken down an aerial ladder, the report said. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration investigated at the scene.

Nationally, falls, in addition to electrocution and being stuck between objects or struck by them, accounted for over half of construction worker deaths in 2014, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. The OSHA reported that more than 20 percent of all work-related fatalities in 2013 were employed in the construction industry and that one in five of the 4,821 reported fatalities in 2014 were also in the construction industry.

“Most of these actions help to make our environment and the workplace safer so that others will not have to endure these painful losses,” said Moverman of the firm’s work.

Lipsig, Shapey, Manus & Moverman have been representing victims of construction accidents for years. In one case, Attorney Thomas Moverman won a victim $2.6 million for a worker who injured his knee and back in a fall from defective scaffolding. The firm has successfully obtained millions in settlements for those victims and strongly believes in fighting for the compensation victims need and deserve. Lipsig, Shapey, Manus & Moverman is currently looking to assist those individuals who have been injured in a construction accident and qualifying individuals may be entitled to financial compensation.
