LipsigLawyers.com’s Thomas Moverman commended the OSHA last month after they issued a statement calling on the Greater Philadelphia area construction companies to ensure employees use proper protection when working at heights. Moverman added that these pushes are necessary to both ensure worker safety and hold companies accountable.

The OSHA published an article recently indicating that they were calling on the Greater Philadelphia area to be more diligent with proper safety precautions. The push follows a string of five fatal construction accidents that occurred in the area since June 13, the group said.

According to OSHA, 40 percent of all fatalities in Philadelphia investigated by OSHA are the result of falls. Nationally, falls, in addition to electrocution and being stuck between objects or struck by them, accounted for over half of construction worker deaths in 2014, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. The OSHA reported that more than 20 percent of all work-related fatalities in 2013 were employed in the construction industry and that one in five of the 4,821 reported fatalities in 2014 were also in the construction industry.

“Most of these actions help to make our environment and the workplace safer so that others will not have to endure these painful losses,” said Moverman of the firm’s work.

Lipsig, Shapey, Manus & Moverman have been representing victims of construction accidents for years. In one case, Attorney Thomas Moverman won a victim $2.6 million for a worker who injured his knee and back in a fall from defective scaffolding. The firm has successfully obtained millions in settlements for those victims and strongly believes in fighting for the compensation victims need and deserve. Lipsig, Shapey, Manus & Moverman is currently looking to assist those individuals who have been injured in a construction accident and qualifying individuals may be entitled to financial compensation.
