Indianapolis, Indiana -

Kennected is committed to helping people make the most out of LinkedIn and its features. In line with this mission, Kennected recently published an article on whether or not people can see when they visit user's profiles. The short answer is yes, users can see who viewed their profile. The person that was visited will receive a notification saying that their profile was viewed. Click here to read the original article.

The user may also go to their LinkedIn page and see their profile history, to see who visited their profile. When a person visits someone else’s profile, it is recorded in their profile history just like how it is recorded in one's own. LinkedIn does this to maximize connection opportunities for all its users.

However, there are times when people want to view another user’s profile without revealing themselves. Maybe they are curious but not looking to make a connection, or maybe they are doing some research about their competition. In any case, LinkedIn also provides various ways around this system.

For users who have a basic LinkedIn account and are not in private mode, it is not possible to eliminate information from appearing in other people’s profile history, but this information can be limited. Simply go to one's LinkedIn homepage, select Privacy Settings and follow these steps.

Click the Me icon at the top of the page. Next, click on the middle banner that reads ‘Privacy’. Next, in the first section, Profile Privacy, scroll down to Profile Viewing options and click ‘Change’. And finally, select what others see when they have viewed their profile, and choose one's preferred option.

Here, users may choose whether to have their name and headline appear in another user’s profile history. It is possible to just leave one's title and place of work. Another way to go anonymous in LinkedIn, even when visiting another person’s profile, is to use private mode.

Private mode reduces the number of information users make available to other people. When in private mode, the user only appears as an “Anonymous LinkedIn member” when they visit someone else’s profile. However, this means that when a person views another user’s profile, they will still get a notification in their profile history, although one's own profile information will not be given. They will see that someone visited them, but would not know who it was.

The private mode has other downsides that users should know about. Choosing to view profiles in private mode disables one's own ability to see who has visited the profile. It also erases one's total-viewer history. A person may miss out on important information and connection opportunities.

A Premium LinkedIn account is the only way to bypass this limitation. With a premium account, users are able to see their profile history, even while hiding their own profile viewing activities. It is worth noting that even users with a premium LinkedIn account are not able to see users in private mode who visit their profile.

LinkedIn makes it easier for people to expand their network and make important connections. The profile history feature is there to help users identify such opportunities that will help them grow their careers. Used properly LinkedIn is the best social networking site for making meaningful professional connections that can help a person build a brand. Use Kennected to automate LinkedIn lead generation and grow one's business during the Coronavirus shutdown.
