Deerfield Beach, Florida-based wedding and event design school, The Institute of Wedding and Event Design (IWED), is pleased to offer wedding decor tips and suggestions to novices and professionals alike looking for some creative wedding ideas for their next event.

For many, their wedding day is an event to be remembered forever. Writing the perfect vows, an extremely memorable guest list, picking the perfect venue, and having the best entertainment all help make the wedding day a success. But couples also want to help make their day memorable through the design and look of their wedding. Whether they are a professional designer or the bride-to-be, IWED is offering some of their expert advice to help make the upcoming event the best it can be.

There are six wedding decoration tips the institute is offering, and the first deals with the importance of color palettes. “A lot of couples choose one or two colors for their wedding event,” says a representative of the institute. “One or two colors can be enough and satisfy the groom and the bride. But we are suggesting perhaps incorporating a color palette into the design to ‘wow’ and impress.” IWED suggests this can be done by having different shades of one color, or by having a main color and coordinating other colors based on the main color. “The décor will be much richer, and the design will experience more depth,” says the representative.

The second tip to enhance wedding décor is to offer a variety in texture. “This can be done with linens, chair covers, wall art, and so forth,” says the representative. By incorporating a variety of fabrics, the institute says, the decorations will have the effect of a breath of fresh air. IWED also says that everything does not have to match either.

The third tip deals with playing with different shapes at your disposal. One does not have to be bound to one shape or style when it comes to wedding furniture such as tables and chairs. It is only warned that when combining these different shapes and styles, that there is consistency in the coordination. “Guests really aren’t used to different types of tables at a wedding,” says the representative. “Adding that bit of creativity will really stand out to guests.”

The fourth tip concerns lighting the wedding. “Different colored lighting can really add to the mood,” says the representative. The institute recommends warm amber shades for dinner, and colorful pinks, purples, and reds for the dance session. They advise using one’s imagination with color schemes can enhance the atmosphere of a wedding tremendously.

The fifth tip regards utilizing the surroundings of where one is getting married. “It’s the cheapest form of amazing décor,” says the representative. “Don’t try to make an indoor wedding look like an outdoor wedding. It’s in your best interest budget-wise to just get married outdoors. You want your surroundings to have the vibe is already in place for what you are trying to achieve.”

The sixth and final tip the IWED Institute has to offer for wedding décor and design is the picking of the right venue. They say that the venue is the most important piece of decoration—it sets the tone for the whole event. “We want to stress,” says the representative, “The venue is the number one most important piece to having the perfect wedding décor for your event.” The venue is the first and the last thing guests will see at the wedding event.

The Institute of Wedding & Event Design is an industry leader in the field of wedding and event design education. There are two main courses at IWED—Event Design & Décor, and Event Floral Design. Operated in Deerfield Beach, Florida, the institute offers training programs in person and online. “It’s about students taking their skills to the next level,” says the representative. “We have a hands-on curriculum where we teach you ‘how’ to do things, not just teach in theory.” The institute offers a personalized form of education for its students.

Students appear to be receptive towards IWED’s approach. The institute has a near-perfect 5-star rating on Facebook. A former student says, “IWED helped me develop as a professional in the industry. Never before did I think I could actually make a living doing what I love the most. They taught me so much.” Another former student says, “I have so much to thank IWED for. Their approach to individualized teaching was awesome. Their training took my business forward and was very rewarding personally.”
