Date To Create Launches New Creative Studio in Westlake Village

Creative entrepreneur, Donna Lowy, launches Date To Create, showing everyone what Einstein meant when he said “Creativity is intelligence having fun.”

The Conejo Valley has a new creative space. The company, Date To Create, is providing creative solutions for finding something new to do. The business model is different than the ‘everyone paints the same picture’ type of a creative night out. At Date To Create everyone customers create their own original work of art, sometimes there is paint involved, but not always. Projects are social and unique, and range from mixed media to collage to paint to sculpture to good old crafting, and more. Date To Create’s unique business model centers around the adult playground concept, where grown-ups can tap into Mindful Making and Creative Therapy to have fun, let their creative flag wave and be part of the ‘Return To Creativity’ movement.

Located in Westlake Village, Date To Create is a new studio providing private custom-crafted parties, company parties and team building events, and date night, girls night out, guys night out, or just a creative night out for anyone. Date To Create is embracing the “Maker Movement” with creative workshops where the crafter or tinkerer can have a fun social night out, make some stuff and come away with a unique one-of-a-kind work of art created start to finish over the course of a couple hours in a creative social environment.

All supplies are provided, and as much direction or guidance as customers want or like, gently guided by Date To Create’s founder, Donna Lowy. A serial entrepreneur and creative soul, Donna has been helping young and old alike explore and release their creativity for more than 20 years.From producing, directing, designing and acting in theatre, to writing, developing and teaching creative programs for adults, kids and communities with over 25,000 participants, to starting and running two successful creative companies, Lowy has always been true to her core belief that everyone is creative. "But people often confuse creativity with being an artist and they're intimidated,” she says.

“Time and time again people say ‘but I’m not an artist, only artists are creative,’" Donna continued. "And to that I say ‘do you like to build things or garden, do you select what you or your kids will wear today, do you plan dinner, or your family vacation, or ever solve problems at work, or figure out what to do when faced with two compelling choices?' That all takes creative thinking. At Date To Create creativity matters, creativity rules and everyone leaves with a renewed appreciation for just how creative they are. One of my favorite historical people Albert Einstein said 'Creativity is intelligence having fun.' We want date To Create to help people see that in themselves. Date To Create is a way for people to come together in a social gathering for creative inspiration, collaboration and merriment. A fun safe place where all are encouraged to connect, create & celebrate.”

When asked what inspired her to start Date To Create, Ms. Lowy said, “In my journey I have met so many wonderful people, and the one constant that lights me up is seeing the creative fire that lives in all of us. Sometimes it is hidden like a tiny ember under a log looking for the right moment to spark, or it may be a flame that just needs a little wind behind it to fully reach its brightness. Wanting to fan that fire in others and myself, I was inspired to create a new adventure and career for myself. To be creative and to help others discover, revisit or inspire their creative self.”
