Massage therapists and bodywork educators, massage and bodywork school owners, and continuing education providers in the massage and bodywork community are being encouraged to attend the Alliance for Massage Therapy Education (AFMTE) 2016 Annual Conference. It should be noted that this year's annual conference will be held fully online and not in Tucson, AZ, where the organization is based. The Alliance aims to attract a greater audience by doing this, as it is far more convenient for those outside of the Tucson area.

"We are hosting an online annual business meeting in the even years and an in-person meeting during the Educational Congress in the odd years," explains Stan Dawson, Vice President for the Alliance.

The 2016 Annual Conference will provide an opportunity for people to come together and discuss the work of the organization. Additionally, the new board members will be elected at that point, voting for which is open online until July 15, 2016. The Alliance wants to encourage all massage and bodywork professionals to attend the event.

The Annual Conference will be held on Thursday, Jul 14, 2016 from 7:30 PM to 9:30 PM BST. Although it will be held fully online, the agenda will cover the same points as in previous years, when the meeting was held at the 2015 Educational Congress. Agenda items include the financial report, election information, updates on the National Teacher Education Standards Project, the 2017 Educational Congress, association updates, and committee reports. Additionally, time has been allotted for a Q&A session so that everybody will have the opportunity to have their voices heard and their concerns addressed. People can register for webinar online and are encouraged to do so as soon as possible, as the meeting date is quickly approaching.

Massage therapy and bodywork educators are also encouraged to apply for AFMTE Membership. Membership is required in order to participate at the annual meetings and to be able to cast votes on issues. Membership comes with a number of other important benefits as well. Different categories of membership exist depending on whether the applicant is a school teacher, continuing education provider, supporter or allied member.
