The Alliance For Massage Therapy Education (AFMTE) has announced that they have extended the deadline for presenter applications for the 2017 Educational Congress. The Biennial Educational Congress was first held in 2015. It set a record for the best attended massage and bodywork educators' event in history. It is expected that the 2017 event will surpass those numbers, which is the reason why the application deadline was extended.

Specifics have been highlighted about the type of presentations they are looking for. A list of topics has been provided. With the deadline extended, potential presenters now have until August 17, 2016 to apply for a place as speaker or presenter.

Currently, the organization is looking for keynote speakers, as well as two and three hour presenters. Specifically, they are looking for those with a general interest topic, such as inspirational teaching techniques, technology, and developing synchronous and asynchronous classes. They are also looking for teacher training topics, such as classroom teaching skills, classroom management, curriculum design, and improving student participation.

Furthermore, they want to highlight school issues. These include giving great tours, making special needs adaptations, financial management, financial aid, recruiting and retaining employees, and increasing enrollment. Lastly, they want to raise continuous education provider issues, including marketing and creating online courses.

The Educational Congress was inspired originally by members of the bodywork education and massage therapy community. The goal was to have a single event in which representatives from all the different organizations that are connected with bodywork education and massage therapy can gather in order to discuss, collaborate, and share. Specifically, it provides an opportunity to review critical issues that affect the industry, and also to exchange information and enhance teaching skills, while at the same time networking together.

The presenter application form is currently available on the AFMTE website. The event itself will take place at the end of July 2017 in Tucson, AZ. Applications for exhibitors can also be made through the website, where they can review the prospectus to see the types of topics the conference is hoping to cover. It also highlights details about the different entrance tickets that can be purchased, as well as a wealth of other information on the conference itself.
