Internet Income Jamaica Gives Special Award to Top Achiever With Physical Disability

Kingston, Jamaica - In an event held at Emancipation Park on Thursday, December 3, the function saw a number of presentations being made by successful members of the persons with disabilities (PWDs) community and several stakeholders. Internet Income Jamaica used the opportunity to honor Dana Gaye Weller, a young woman with a disability who had attended a boot camp held by the company and was now earning an income online as a result.

Dana received a Dell laptop, valued at over USD $800, which is expected to assist her in her daily tasks working online. The university graduate, who has a BSc in Psychology from the University of the West Indies, makes money by marketing her skills online as a Virtual Assistant.

The physically disabled Weller received training during a special boot camp hosted by Internet Income Jamaica in December, 2014 for PWDs and has gone on to become the top ranked seller from that group. In addition to the laptop, Dana also received an award for outstanding achievements from the company. Both presentations were made by Ms. Alicia Lyttle, CEO of Internet Income Jamaica.

Organized in conjunction with the Ministry of Labour and Social Security and the Jamaica Council for Persons with Disabilities (JCPD), the event sought to empower and motivate the PWDs community. Speakers for the day included Mrs. Dennise Williams, host of Financially Focused whose child has Down’s Syndrome; Mrs. Christine Hendricks, Executive Director of the JCPD and who also has a physical disability; Racquel Wilson, Newscaster and Minister of Religion who grew up with a disability; and Chairman of the JCPD Management Board, Mr. Denworth Finnikin.

Entertainment was also provided for patrons at the event, including performances by the Deaf Dancers, School for the Blind Choir, and Culture Group for the Blind. In attendance were many PWDs, including the deaf, blind, crippled or otherwise physically disabled, along with those who had illnesses that had rendered them disabled.

The award made to Dana by Internet Income Jamaica comes as the company continues their drive in training people how to make money online. Dana has expressed her gratitude for the gift and is expected to continue on her path of achievement and inspiration.
