Bethalto, IL – A Bethalto freight shipping center, The Mail Box Store, is encouraging their community to spread some extra Christmas joy this year. The Operation Santa program, hosted by the United States Postal Service (USPS) has been a tradition across the United States for over 100 years, but with COVID-19 still impacting communities across the country, this year’s Operation Santa will look a little different. In order to continue the tradition, the United States Postal Service has expanded the letter adoption process online.

Since 1912, the USPS has been hosting Operation Santa as a way for families across the country to write to Santa Claus in the “North Pole.” Submissions are then vetted, verified, and added to the online platform daily through December 19. Users, dubbed “Christmas Angels,” are then able to anonymously adopt as many letters as they would like to respond to on the Operation Santa website: USPSOperationSanta.com. The Christmas Angels respond with the holiday wishes stated in the letters they adopted.

While the program is typically held in person within communities, this year, all letter adoptions will be handled online, and anyone from anywhere in the U.S. is invited and encouraged to participate if they are able. Having the program available online allows letter adopters to help kids from all over the country instead of only kids within their local community.

As a small, local business, The Mail Box Store is thrilled to see kids from around the country have the opportunity for their holiday wishes to come true. As this has been a trying time for everyone, the UPS access point in Bethalto is hoping to see a record number of letters answered as a way to bring some much-needed joy into the end of 2020.

The Mail Box Store has been proudly serving the Bethalto community since 2007. As a full-service packing, shipping, and printing center, they are an authorized shipping outlet for FedEx, USPS, and DHL and offer a wide range of packaging and shipping options with unparalleled customer service. For more details about Operation Santa or for assistance in shipping Christmas Angel packages, call The Mail Box Store today at (618) 377-6245 or visit their website at www.themailboxstore.net.
