Sunsella, a Home & Kitchen products manufacturer based out of Los Angeles, California, is reaching out to the wider community to comment on Nike’s recent acquisition of TraceMe. TraceMe is a Seattle startup that was co-founded by Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson.

Launching back in 2017, the TraceMe’s aim was to create an app that would connect celebrities with dedicated fans using behind-the-scenes content, community features, and more. The company was backed by a lineup of prestigious investors, such as Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos, YouTube founder Chad Hurley, Alibaba co-founder Joe Tsai, and the Seattle-based Madrona Venture Group.

In late 2019, TraceMe shut down the original app and shifted their focus to a new idea called Tally, which would serve as an app that could predict sports results. The app gained some recognition during the February Super Bowl, with teams such as the L.A. Rams, Portland Trail Blazers, and St. Louis Blues using it to their advantage.

Mike Law, a representative for Sunsella, says, “It’s interesting that Nike would reach out and acquire TraceMe. Nike has established itself as one of the premium brands for sneakers and other sports gear, but with the acquisition of TraceMe, we are probably looking at the beginning of Nike’s ventures into digital media. What is more interesting is that Nike apparently isn’t interested in TraceMe’s newer app idea, Tally, which has some relevance within sports. No, Nike is interested in the original TraceMe technology, the one that worked to connect celebs and their fans.”

“Off the top of my head,” says Law, “I can see a way that Nike might intend to use TraceMe as part of it’s brand: TraceMe could be used as a premium service that connects athletes and other celebrities affiliated with Nike to their fans, which could improve Nike’s own position and image as a company, not to mention their bottom line. But that’s just a guess. What they are actually going to do with it, we’ll have to wait and see. What is certain is this: digital media is becoming a bigger and bigger part of corporate identities. Soon, you might even learn that Sunsella has its own social media platform.”

Much like Nike is famous for their footwear, Sunsella is famous for their impressive range of home and kitchen products. Sunsella’s best sellers include their Silicone Vegetable Steamer Basket, Leakproof Bento Box Lunch Container, Silicone Hot Handle - Cast Iron Griddle & Skillet Holder Set, Silicone Popsicle Molds, and their Silicone Egg Rings. As stated on the company’s website, Sunsella is committed to providing products that benefit the whole family.

Law says, “As a company, you have to do your best to excel in your industry, whatever it is. Nike’s acquisition of TraceMe, no doubt, is part of their plan to make strides in their industry. At Sunsella, we are trying to be the best at what we do: create home and kitchenware products that you can place your faith in. Our products are all designed and engineered with you in mind, because we think that our customers deserve nothing but the best. When you buy from Sunsella, you should know that you’re getting a quality product.”

Sunsella’s dedication to creating reliable products has earned them a positive reputation among their customers. Amazon user Hayley says in her five-star review for the Leakproof Bento Lunch Box that, “This was exactly what I was looking for! I wanted a bento style box for my son’s lunch. I love that it is sturdy and good quality, but also that the leak proof lid is easy enough for my five year old to open and close by himself. It also fits nicely in a standard size lunch box with enough room for an ice pack and utensils.”

Similarly, another Amazon user, R, shares their review for the company’s Leakproof Insulated Stainless Steel Water Bottle, saying, “I absolutely love this pink water bottle! The color is exactly as pictured, and the bottle looks great in person. The bottle is made of high quality materials, and has a vacuum sealing screw cap. It is leak proof and keeps my water cold all day. I love that it comes with a detachable clip so that you can take it on the go. I highly recommend this bottle.”
