Great Falls, Virginia -

Backyard Bug Patrol, a Great Falls, Virginial pest control company, has released new information regarding the first World Lyme Day. The Northern Virginia based company recently posted information regarding the May 1 event on their website.

John Mitchell, a representative for Backyard Bug Patrol says, “May 1st has been designated as World Lyme Day. This day has been set apart to educate people about ticks and how to prevent sicknesses that can be caused by a tick bite.” More on the post can be seen at https://backyardbugpatrol.com/tick-control/take-part-in-the-take-a-bite-out-of-lyme-challenge/.

Mitchell says that with spring arriving, now is the time for consumers to learn about ticks. Ticks begin to come out in early spring, particularly in areas where freezing temperatures are over for the year. Mitchell adds that everyone needs to learn more about ticks in an attempt to prevent being bitten.

“There are numerous news stories every year, and these stories are getting more and more frequent,” says Mitchell. “New stories have highlighted people who have been bitten by ticks and developed Lyme disease and other even more serious conditions. People need to know that ticks are not something to ignore. They need to be proactive about avoiding these pests and know what to do if and when they do have a tick bite.”

World Lyme Day takes place on the first of May and is an attempt to raise awareness of Lyme disease around the world. Lyme Disease Awareness Month takes place throughout the entire month of May and gives those who are aware of the disease the opportunity to spread more information and help others to prevent spreading this illness. More on Lyme disease and its prevention can be seen at https://press.cityscene.media/tick-control.

Lyme disease is caused by a bacteria that can be transmitted to humans through bites from infected ticks. The symptoms of Lyme disease include headache, fatigue, fever and a rash. Left untreated, this infection can spread throughout the body and affect the joints, nervous system and the heart. Physicians can diagnose the disease based on the symptoms, such as the rash and fever, as well as the possibility of a tick bite. In many cases, doctors will look for the spot where the infected tick was attached. Lyme disease has cause numerous illnesses and in severe cases, death over the years in the United States.

Mitchell states that knowing what causes this disease and being proactive to prevent it are two very different things. He states that there are a number of things that consumers can do to ensure that they do not get infected, which includes using a repellent to keep ticks off the skin. For children, there are a number of repellents available that claim to be effective and safe. Mitchell adds that there are certain steps that can be taken to prevent ticks from living in yards and other outdoor areas, as well.

He adds that wearing protective clothing is essential when being outdoors during the spring and summer months. Doing a thorough check for ticks, particularly on children, is also essential in preventing the spread of this disease. Those who have pets should ensure that dogs and cats are treated to prevent ticks as well, and check them regularly to determine if they have ticks that need to be removed. Mitchell states that the first step in preventing the spread of Lyme disease is to ensure that everyone is educated on the topic, which is the main focus of World Lyme Day on the first of May.

Those who are interested in learning more about Lyme disease and how it can be prevented, as well as other topics related to pest control, can visit the company on their press page at https://www.pressadvantage.com/organization/backyard-bug-patrol. Mitchell states that anyone who has questions about this disease or how to prevent it or any other pest problem that they may be experiencing can visit the company on their official website for more information.
