Honolulu, Hawaii — Warren H. Ohira, DDS Inc. recently discussed the value of dentist tooth protection for all clients. The highly regarded dental clinic for restorative and cosmetic dentistry, today announced the availability of advanced tooth protection procedures that a dentist can provide for patients in Hawaii.

“Some people think that regular tooth brushing and flossing are enough, but pretty soon they need the services of a dental surgeon and a prosthodontist to have their missing teeth replaced,” warns Dr. Warren Ohira, who has more than 25 years of experience in the dental industry. “In our Honolulu dental practice, we offer tooth protection measures that can cover up imperfections while still retaining the teeth.”

One of these measures is the use of porcelain veneers. “Some people keep themselves from smiling because their teeth are deeply stained or they have cracked or chipped teeth,” says Dr. Ohira. “Our porcelain veneers can cover up these imperfections, and at the same time they also support damaged teeth.”

Porcelain veneers are thin slices of porcelain that are laid upon the front surface of tooth. They are shaped like a natural tooth, and have the same color as well. “This means that our patients can smile more freely, because any chipped or discolored tooth is covered up, and the veneer cover looks very natural,” added Hawaii dentist Dr. Ohira, “at the same time, the veneers also feel natural to the patient, because the porcelain feels like the organic enamel of the teeth. It is also strong and functional, so the patient can take a bite out of hard food in the same way they use their real teeth.”

Another procedure that protects the teeth is called tooth bonding. With veneers, the dentist needs some time to craft the veneer so that it can fit perfectly on the surface of the teeth. With tooth bonding, only a single visit to the dentist is needed because the procedure uses a composite resin made of plastic and glass.

“Bonding is very affordable, and it also needs very little time to complete,” confirms Dr. Ohira. “It can cover up any imperfections in the tooth such as a chip or a stain, and the resin also acts as a shield for the tooth enamel so that the tooth becomes stronger.”

The resin can last for more than a decade with proper oral hygiene, and patients can chew many types of food without damaging the resin. Bonding can even be used for children because the resin can easily be removed by the dentist to accommodate a child’s growing tooth. For further information, contact Warren H. Ohira, DDS Inc.
