Peak One Builders & Restoration has recently launched a new division focusing on supporting the home remodeling needs of the disabled community in the Scottsdale, Phoenix and related areas in Arizona. Company owner Michael Christensen, says that the new division is tasked with helping those with disabilities to have more comfortable living conditions in their personal homes.

The Handicapped Remodeling General Contracting Services division will be prepared to meet the many Handicap Accessible standards that they may now have to live with. According to the company website:

"It's estimated that less than 10% of the current houses that are built in the Phoenix metro area can accommodate wheelchair access. It's this reality that has Peak One Builders & Restoration excited to provide handicap remodeling services and handicap accessible home modifications in Scottsdale, Phoenix, and throughout the valley."

The company, which is based in Scottsdale, plans to put all of its resources and expertise behind developing several projects in conjunction with Jared Allen's Homes 4 Wounded Warrior Foundation. The goal is to build ADA accessible homes for anyone who may have the need to modify their homes so that they can maintain a certain level of independence.

Christensen points out that many of the older homes in the region were not built to be "wheelchair friendly," and many of the newer homes lack this basic function as well. Part of the reason for this lack of accommodation for those with disabilities is the misguided belief that renovating a home to meet the standards set out in the Americans With Disabilities Act could be time consuming, difficult, and costly. However, he believes that with the right renovation company and the right combination of skills, a home could meet the building code requirement at an affordable price.

With only a few adjustments, a home could be refitted with wheelchair entry access, the doorways can be widened so that they are easier to navigate, and replace all the areas and fixtures in the house so that those in a wheelchair can easily use them.

These adjustments could include a bathroom remodel, which simply involves widening doorways for easier access, bathtub remodeling, roll-in showers, handrail installation, handicap toilet installation, and customizing all bathroom fixtures. Kitchen remodeling might include lowering sinks and counters for those in wheelchairs, cabinet placement, and easier access to storage areas.

Christensen explains that their Scottsdale handicapped remodeling services can include a custom design of the layout of any home to accommodate the unique needs of each customer. They promise to meet whatever the customer's needs are without compromising on the safety or efficiency of the home or the quality of the work.

The company has built up a strong reputation in the community for its dedication to producing quality home remodeling services. This new division will strive to meet each customer's individual needs regardless of what they may be. Company representatives pride themselves on finding solutions to problems that other contractors may not be accustomed to seeing in a remodeling project.
