Peak One Builders & Restoration, operating in Scottsdale, AZ, has announced that they have started working on a new home for wounded US Army Sergeant John Ricketts. He is a veteran from the war in Afghanistan, where he sustained significant injuries. This is the fourth project of its kind undertaken by the Phoenix home remodeling contractor.

Michael Christensen from Peak One Builders & Restoration was quoted as saying, "Although it may be easy to reach out to thank our military on holidays like July 4th, Veterans Day or Memorial Day, it's important that we take every opportunity to give thanks and show gratitude to our military. So when the opportunity came up for us to collaborate once again with Jared Allen's Homes for Wounded Warrior project to renovate a home for another US Army veteran, we jumped in."

One of the projects previously undertaken by Peak One Builders & JAH4WW Foundation was for Sergeant Cory Remsburg. John Ricketts' story is very similar. He sustained life threatening injuries in May 2010 after his vehicle struck an IED (improvised explosive device) while patrolling a mountainside. As a gunner for the 101st Airborne Division, it looked like his career and his life was over.

However, Ricketts showed tremendous mental strength. While his injuries impacted multiple aspects of his body, he turned any negative emotions that he felt into something positive. While he has multiple prosthetic limbs, he intends to compete in an off-road marathon in the near future. This will involve running through the desert, a competitive swim, and a mountain bike race.

A home was chosen by Jared Allen's Homes for Wounded Warriors in July last year. Since then, they have started working together with Peak One Builders & Restoration in order to make sure the space would suit the needs of Sergeant Ricketts. The sergeant has been 100% involved in the entire process, ensuring the home will be as he wants it to be.

Peak One Builders, as can be seen on http://peakonebuilders.com/, is owned by an army veteran, Michael Christensen. "As a veteran myself, I have a great understanding of how important it is to be supported," says Michael. "I am so proud to be able to give back in this way."
