Great Cloth Diaper Change Raises Awareness of Reusable Pocket Diapers

Minden, NV - After the invention of disposable diapers, the use of cloth diapers drastically declined. With this in mind, the Great Cloth Diaper Change hopes to bring more awareness of reusable diapers and their environmental benefits. This challenge, led by the Northampton Massachusetts chapter in tandem with other chapters around the world, worked towards breaking the world record for the most cloth diapers changed around the world in 24 hour period.

Last year, 18 countries participated in the challenge with over 9,700 babies changed from a disposable diaper to a cloth diaper.

“It’s about getting more disposable diapers out of landfills,” said Aston Dibrindisi, Grow retail manager and event coordinator. “And it’s educational, people can see what’s out there, because there’s so many different types of diapers.”

One of the biggest benefits of the event, is that parents actually come to the event and change their babies and learn about the benefits as well as all of the options. In addition, if the parent does not have a cloth diaper to change their baby into, there are cloth diapers to borrow at the event. The organization hopes this will eventually lead to the parents wanting to change from disposable diapers to cloth diapers.

“We love the idea of the Great Cloth Diaper Change. Unfortunately, not enough parents are aware of the benefits and the options of cloth diapers. Especially the younger generation, many haven’t even seen or felt a cloth diaper before. We live our lives trying our best to do our part in protecting the environment and the development of our line of a reusable pocket diaper came about because when we had our first child we knew we wanted to use cloth diapers. Therefore, we designed one exactly how we wanted it, had it developed and not only do we use them every day, but we are now also selling them on Amazon.com,” said Paul, a Bambungle company representative.
