London, England -

National home care services company Home Instead’s Wandsworth, Lambeth & Dulwich office has been supporting a range of elderly organisations in 2021 and they plan to continue with this in 2022. In 2021, the company’s regional office donated to many organisations in its local community, either in the form of direct funds or other initiatives that are meant to increase the awareness of the need for home care services for the elderly and disabled. The company says that its Wandsworth, Lambeth & Dulwich location supported many organisations with grants amounting to a total of £2,900.

In 2021, the home care services company offering home care in Wandsworth provided support to Regenerate-RISE (Reaching the Isolated Elderly). At the organisation, Tony O'Flaherty delivered a talk on the topic of dementia to its members. The outcome of the talk was that Tony managed to help increase the individual knowledge of the centre's members regarding dementia and helped them be more dementia-aware and dementia-friendly. Also in Wandsworth, the organisation helped Drew Drop Inn, the senior social club at Balham Baptist Church located at 21 Ramsden Road, Balham, London, SW12 8QX. The lunch club meets starting at 11 AM and is followed by a session of Seniors Keep Fit Chair-based exercise. Home Instead Wandsworth, Lambeth & Dulwich offered support by making a £200 contribution towards the Christmas dinner and £200 towards the chef’s costs. The event was a success and the senior social club was able to have its first Christmas dinner after the pandemic lockdown in 2020 for free without being forced to charge £10 per person.

The home services company offering home care in Lambeth also helped the patient group at Valley Road Surgery located at 139 Valley Road, London, SW16 2XT452. The patient group offers seated exercise classes for those over 65 years of age at 452 Streatham High Road, London SW16 3PY. The organisation reported that they currently have 18 people attending their exercise class and they started to charge £3 per session, just before COVID. They had to pay £29 for the hall for 45 mins and £40 for the instructor. Insurance is paid at a rate of £90 yearly. Consequently, the money they made during the sessions went completely towards paying the instructor with nothing being left over. With the help of a £500 grant from Home Instead to keep the group going, the organisation can now rent the hall for longer and offer server refreshments.

Finally, in Dulwich, representatives from Home Instead’s Wandsworth, Lambeth & Dulwich office had sessions with Deepdene House Assisted Living Facility at 55-57 Stanthorpe Road, London, SW16 2EA, and Dulwich Mead Retirement Housing at 48-52 Half Moon Lane, Dulwich, London, SE24 9HS. The home services agency offering home care in Dulwich reported that the outcome of the sessions has been positive, and the two organisations have asked for it to return monthly.

Tony O’Flaherty, the owner of Home Instead Wandsworth, Lambeth & Dulwich, has been very involved in the care industry having been brought up with an appreciation of the positive effects that good care has on people’s lives.
