Denton, TX – With the peak shipping season quickly approaching, many mail carriers have announced price increases taking effect that will carry over into 2022. UPS recently joined the list with an announcement that customers will see peak surcharge increases that will vary, depending on the package volume sent by shippers since last year. These surcharges began on October 2nd of this year and will last through January 22, 2022. UPS stated that the surcharges will “Apply to certain UPS Air Residential, UPS Ground Residential, and UPS SurePost packages, for all U.S. domestic shipments, for qualifying customers who have shipped more than 25,000 packages during any week following February 2020.”

A detailed list of the peak surcharges, including surcharges for customers shipping packages outside of the United States, can be found on the UPS website as a downloadable PDF. However, these increases don’t apply to every UPS shipper. Those who have utilized shipping software to buy their postage online likely will not be subject to these surcharges.

According to Shipping School, a free shipping educational resource, “this is thanks to contractual clauses with shipping software companies who have partnered with the UPS Digital Access Program.”
