Naperville Pack and Ship Center Shares UPS Peak Surcharges Announcement

Naperville, Ill – With the busiest time of year for the shipping industry just around the corner, quite a few of the well-known mail carriers have announced rate increases for the upcoming holiday season. UPS recently joined that list and raised surcharges on October 2nd, 2021. These increases will remain in place through January 22nd, 2022. As a local pack and ship center, The Boxes Etc. wants to share these changes to ensure that shippers in their community remain informed and can plan for holiday mailing needs accordingly.

According to UPS, the surcharges will “Apply to certain UPS Air Residential, UPS Ground Residential, and UPS SurePost packages, for all U.S. domestic shipments, for qualifying customers who have shipped more than 25,000 packages during any week following February 2020.”

However, not every shipper will be subject to these surcharges. Those individuals who have opted to purchase their postage online via some form of shipping software won’t have to pay these increases.

UPS states that “This is thanks to contractual clauses with shipping software companies who have partnered with the UPS Digital Access Program.”
