Insurance Covered Baby Formula, a MedSource LLC company, is helping parents across the country qualify for specialty baby formula through insurance. Specialty baby formulas are created to address specific issues in babies that suffer from conditions such as food allergies, metabolic disorders, or premature birth weights.

The company offers three types of specialty formulas to address unique nutritional needs. Firstly, it makes available hypoallergenic formulas for babies who suffer from food and milk allergies. It also provides metabolic formulas for babies who have a metabolic disorder and cannot break down food properly. Finally, it provides premature infant formulas for babies who were born prematurely and need extra nutrients and calories.

Babies that have an allergy to cow or soy milk can show symptoms such as frequent vomiting, difficulty eating, bloody, mucousy stools, eczema, rash, and hives. Nearly 5% of children under the age of five are affected by food allergies. These can cause a range of issues, everything from rashes to breathing problems to fussiness/colic.

Cystic fibrosis is a genetic disorder that affects the lungs, digestive system, and other organs. It is a genetic disease and is passed down from parents. Babies with cystic fibrosis will not break down proteins correctly and will require specialty baby formula both for digestion and to aid in weight gain.

EoE (Eosinophilic Esophagitis) is a chronic allergic inflammatory disease of the esophagus that will require infants to drink a specialty baby formula. The symptoms often include nausea, regurgitation, vomiting, stomach pain, and heartburn.

GERD (Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease) is a condition in which babies spit up constantly and may display some colic-like symptoms including constant screaming which can be taxing on parent and baby. They may also frequently vomit and have a cough. A specialty baby formula may help these infants by providing a formula that is gentler on their digestive track and easier to break down.

The hypoallergenic formulas covered by the company include Nutramigen with Enflora LGG - Hypoallergenic infant formula powder, Similac Alimentum - Hypoallergenic formula for infants with food allergies, PurAmino DHA & ARA by Enfamil - Hypoallergenic amino acid-based formula, Nutramigen with Enflora LGG - Ready to Feed Hypoallergenic infant formula, Nutramigen with Enflora LGG - Ready to Feed Hypoallergenic infant formula, Abbott EleCare - Amino acid-based powder infant formula with iron, Nutricia Neocate - Hypoallergenic formula with prebiotics and probiotics, Enfamil ProSobee - Soy-based infant formula, and Nestle Alfamino - Hypoallergenic free amino acid powder.

The client’s insurance will require a prescription from the child’s pediatrician. A customer service specialist from Insurance Covered Baby Formula will work with the pediatrician to get the prescription. The company will verify the client’s insurance within 24 hours of receiving an order and the pediatrician’s prescription. A customer service specialist will advise the client of any guidelines the insurance company may have regarding when the formula will ship. Once the order is approved by the insurance provider, the formula will ship in 1 to 5 business days. Clients can find out if their insurance will cover specialty formula, by filling out the Qualify Through Insurance form on the company’s website. Once the company receives the information, a customer service specialist will contact the client to review their benefits.
