Senior Care Center, an online resource for helping seniors find nursing homes and assisted living facilities all across the country, is sharing progress reports on the seniors of Garden Grove, a city in northern Orange County, California, and their fight against the coronavirus.

According to the Garden Grove city website, the H. Louis Lake Senior Center, a senior citizen center, is providing a Senior Wellness Program aimed at seniors residing in the city. As a part of the program, city staff will conduct weekly phone calls to check on the well-being of seniors. The phone calls serve as an opportunity for seniors to socialize with staff, help promote mental well-being, and provide valuable community resources during COVID-19.

The center has also come forward and partnered up with Meals on Wheels in Orange County to provide frozen meals for seniors over 60 years old. Those who are interested in registering for the Senior Wellness Program or are interested in receiving the frozen meals can contact the H. Louis Lake Senior Center at its phone number (714) 741-5253, Monday through Friday, from 8 AM to 3:30 PM.

The April 2021 issue of the H. Louis Lake Senior Center’s senior resource newsletter, The Scoop, provides an update on the status of the coronavirus vaccine in the city. It says that the vaccine is still being offered and those who haven’t received it, as of the time of writing, should contact the center at its phone number and have a staff member assist them. Those who are looking for more information about senior care in Garden Grove can browse the center’s website or read through the newsletter for information such as important phone numbers, details of the planned food services, upcoming events, alternative food resources, the Meals on Wheels partnership, the tax assistance update, and a slew of COVID-19 and older adult community resources. The center also plans to host a Zoom conference called “Let’s Chat About It” every Thursday of April from 1 PM to 2 PM to discuss a variety of topics such as the Wellness Workshop, Virtual Recreation, Spring Craft, and Orange County’s Resource and Referral System.

Orange County seniors can obtain the COVID-19 vaccine by appointment only. Residents who are 65 and older, are eligible for the vaccine through the county’s vaccine management app, Othena. The newsletter reminds readers that the Othena app will never ask for sensitive details such as the social security number, credit card information, bank information, or ask for any payment of any sort in any way.

According to county metrics, as of 13th April 2021, Orange County is registering 3.0 new COVID-19 cases per day per 100K. The county risk level is determined to be at a “Moderate” level which means that some indoor business operations are allowed to open with modifications. This is an upgrade from the risk level “Substantial” as was determined 3 weeks ago on the week starting 23rd March 2021. This signifies a steady improvement in conditions as the vaccine rollout is slowly showing its efficacy.

Those who are looking for professional help to find a nursing home or assisted living facility for their senior family members can contact Senior Care Center. The center has a network of Senior Care Advisors who can help the family browse through all the available options and pick the center that closely matches the family’s budget and needs. The Senior Care Advisor quizzes the family about all the particular requirements that their loved one has such as medical needs, diet preferences, religious or cultural preferences, and the ideal location. The advisor then collates all the information and using their expertise finds the best facility for the family. The senior care advisor might also help the family visit the facility before helping them move in. Potential clients and families can read more about the Senior Care Center’s services on its website.

The center can be contacted for all inquiries at the phone number (657) 286-4139 or through a contact form on its website.
