Tallahassee, Fla. – Mr. Rooter Plumbing of Tallahassee is proud to highlight the Healthy Base Initiative, also known as the HBI program, which helps military veterans learn specialized trades in a variety of fields. The HBI program has partnered with The Home Depot Foundation to develop a free 12-week training program for veterans to develop the necessary skills for various jobs, including plumbing.

The programs are in ten locations nationwide, strategically placed next to the largest military installations, including Jacksonville, FL. Veterans can choose different trades at each of ten sites. During the training program, service members will spend 75 percent of their time in hands-on training, while also earning professional certifications and job placement support. Each service member is required to receive approval from the chain of command and be interviewed by HBI staff before entering the program.

The HBI program was designed to help former military personnel rejoin civilian life by providing them with skills beyond what their previous military duties consisted of. The program has been operating since 2012 and is offering a way to train veterans that is different from the past. The HBI program is available within 180 days of military separation and is also offered to dependents and spouses.
