CatCuddles is joining thousands of other organizations around the world in celebrating Remember Me Thursday on September 24, 2020. Remember Me Thursday is an international social media awareness day dedicated to shining a spotlight on the importance of pet adoption using social media and the hashtags #RememberMeThursday, #SeeTheLight, #LightForPets, and #Light4Pets.
Since it began in 2012, Remember Me Thursday has been celebrated in more than 190 countries and by millions of individuals and animal welfare organizations. Celebrities such as Diane Keaton, Kristin Chenoweth, George Lopez, Katharine Heigl, Bethenny Frankel, and Beth Stern have helped to spread the word about the importance of animal adoption by acting as luminaries for the event. Animal luminaries and their adoption stories are also used to help spread the word about the joys and rewards of adopting pets from shelters and rescue organizations.
“Remember Me Thursday is a natural fit for CatCuddles,” said Steve Miller, owner of CatCuddles. “Our missions are similar as CatCuddles is dedicated to supporting no-kill shelters and animal rescue organizations across the U.S. So far, CatCuddles has been able to save 23 cats from homelessness and euthanasia.”
CatCuddles provides information about no-kill animal shelters on its website and sponsors a giveaway that makes $500 donations to cat rescues or shelters across the nation. Past recipients of the $500 donation include the Crafty Cat Rescue in Ann Arbor, MI.
“CatCuddles also recognizes the joys of adopting cats from shelters by encouraging readers to submit photos of their feline friends on the CatCuddles website,” said Miller. “These photos and adoptions stories are featured on the site and various social media accounts. These types of uplifting stories encourage others to adopt kittens or cats from shelters or rescue organizations. Readers who upload photos of their cat or kitten could also win $100 as part of the CatCuddles monthly pet contest.”
Individuals or animal welfare organizations can help to support Remember Me Thursday by lighting virtual candles and sharing stories of how they rescued an animal in need. The candle gallery can be found at remembermethursday.org—along with other resources for celebrating animal adoption stories and merchandise.
Remember Me Thursday was created by Mike Arms, the CEO and President of the Helen Woodward Animal Center—a nationally recognized non-profit organization that provides a variety of services that benefit the community through educational and therapeutic programs for people and humane care and adoption for animals. One of the services is a no-kill animal shelter that highlights animals available for adoption.
In addition to its efforts to promote the adoption of cats and kittens from animal rescues, CatCuddles also provides educational information about different cat breeds and health issues.
“CatCuddles provides well-researched information to cat owners about different breeds and health issues they may encounter,” said Miller. “For example, a recent article on cat anemia described the condition, signs to look for, possible treatments, and the average prognosis for cats with anemia. The goal is to provide cat owners with information that will help them have more informed conversations with their veterinarian or animal care clinic.”
We offer cat health and specific cat breed information, as well as cat owner's rescue and adoption stories and giveaways.
