Construction Management Team Postpones Annual Fundraiser

vScenario honors the passing of two past speakers from the Honey Badger Classic, an annual event supporting the Green Beret Foundation.

San Diego, CA - The Honey Badger Classic, an annual event hosted by the construction management team at vScenario, has postponed their event which supports The Green Beret Foundation. Two past speakers of the 2019 event have recently passed away, Command Sgt. Maj. Bennie G. Adkins, and Staff Sgt. Ronald J. Shurer II.

Retired Command Sgt. Maj. Bennie G. Adkins was a United States Army soldier and a distinguished member of the Special Forces Regiment. He received the U.S. military’s highest decoration, the Medal of Honor, in 2014, for his actions during the Vietnam War. Adkins passed in April 2020 of complications from the COVID-19 virus. Our thoughts and prayers continue to be with his beloved family during this time.

Retired Staff Sgt. Ronald J. Shurer II was a United States Army Special Forces staff sergeant and medic. He received the Medal of Honor in 2018 for his part during the Battle of Shok Valley, Afghanistan. Medal of Honor recipient and SSG Shurer died in May 2020 of lung cancer. Our thoughts and prayers continue to be with his beloved family during this difficult time.

The Green Beret Foundation is an organization dedicated to supporting soldiers of the U.S. Army Special Forces and their families. The Honey Badger Classic is the San Diego annual event hosted by vScenario to raise funds for the Foundation. The Classic matches 4 civilians to 1 Green Beret for team competition for clay sporting, and shooting. A barbeque and speakers round out the event, all in support of The Green Beret Foundation. Due to California’s Executive Order in March to social distance and avoid gathering, the Honey Badger Classic has been postponed.

For both of them to pass away this year when we were not able to host this fundraiser is all the more painful,” says Joseph Rietman, President of vScenario. vScenario hopes to host the event again in 2021.
