Watersound, Florida based Hilary & Reverie has taken the initiative as Food For Thought’s first multi-year donor to pledge their support for the organization’s Summer Meal Program. Hilary & Reverie offers their congratulations as well as their support for the next three years, especially as Food For Thought celebrates their 10-year anniversary in 2020.

Hilary & Reverie, a highly reputable 30A luxury brokerage, is delighted to affirm that they will be a part of Food For Thought’s support network. The agency believes that education is a vital aspect of every child’s growth, and they agree with Food For Thought that food insecurity prevents children from giving all of their effort to their studies. Furthermore, as their name implies, the agency’s own mission is primarily to help the members of their community enjoy their lives. As such, Hilary & Reverie believes that keeping children fed as they head towards adulthood is a natural extension of that mission.

Food For Thought states in their announcement of the donation that, “We would like to thank, Hilary & Reverie for being the first multi-year donor pledging to give to Food For Thought For the next three years to fully support the Summer Meal Program ($15K/summer)!” Donations of this nature allow the organization to set a much more efficient budget and plan their programs more effectively for the years to come. Tiffanie Nelson, the organization’s CEO, launched Food For Thought in 2010 when she identified a critical need in her community: keeping children fed. She asserts that a child who does not know when they will have their next meal is unable to focus on their education. As such, the organization seeks to keep children fed as much as possible, through grades K-12, by making up any shortfall between school meals during weekends and other holiday breaks. Food For Thought also offers learning and life-skill resources through the Emeril Lagasse Full-Circle Kitchen and their Full-Circle Gardens.

The program that Nelson launched initially involved six students and one school. Today, Food For Thought strives to keep childhood hunger at bay across two counties (Walton and Okaloosa) and 35 schools. They serve 3,300 students every week through their backpack services and classes in the Emeril Lagasse Full-Circle Kitchen.

They consider it their mission to remove the negative impacts of hunger, empowering children to get the most out of their education and development by providing them weekly access to healthy, easy to prepare meals. The organization is always ready to begin a discussion with those who wish to learn more about their programs, donate funds as well as necessary pantry items and volunteer to help out.

In a statement echoed on their website, the organization explains, “Now that we have thousands of students relying on these services for a decade, our focus is to ensure that this critical access to food is secured for years to come. As we begin the next 10 years, we are taking root for your children’s future.”
