Denver Assisted Living Facility Celebrates Grandparents Day

Rosemark at Mayfair Park, an assisted living center in Denver, Colorado, has announced that they will soon be celebration National Assisted Living Week and Grandparents Day with their residents and their families. The Grandparents Day celebration is set to take place on September 8, 2019 and the assisted living facility states that they have an entire week of events scheduled to kick off the celebration.

Sandy Christensen, a representative for the facility says, “We are all so excited for our upcoming grandparent’s celebration. Our website has a list of all of the scheduled events that will lead up to our day of celebrating the grandparents in our facility.”

Christensen says that the week’s scheduled events include pizza in the parking lot, an old-fashioned ice cream social, live music, a wine and cheese event and an all day bake sale that will benefit the Alzheimer’s Association.

“That’s just the beginning,” Christensen adds. “We have so many fun activities planned for our Grandparent’s Day celebration. We look forward to meeting some of the families of our residents and anyone in the community who would like to come out and help us to celebrate.”

National Grandparent’s Day in the United States will be on Sunday, September 8, 2019. Christensen states that the facility scheduled their celebration to take place on this national day of celebrating grandparents. National Grandparent’s Day began in the 1960s but was first named an official holiday in 1978. The United States Congress passed a legislation naming the first Sunday after Labor Day as a national day of celebrating grandparents in the United States and that day has been celebrated every year since. The Denver assisted living facility says that they are pleased to celebrate the grandparents that reside in their facility, as well as those who work in the facility.

“We just want to do our part in celebrating those who have passed down our heritage,” says Christensen. “Without grandparents, there just wouldn’t be any us, and we are so thrilled that we have this special day to show all grandparents how much we appreciate them.”
