Austin Vision Therapy Center in Austin, TX, also known as the Center for Vision Development, has issued a reminder that August is Vision and Learning Month. This national observance was started in 1995 and its overall goal is to boost awareness among educators and parents that there is a substantial number of misdiagnosed or undiagnosed vision problems in children. In-school eye screenings have been found to be inadequate, resulting in missed conditions in children, such as ADHD. The problem is that children with undiagnosed vision problems will grow up being unaware that what they see is not normal and therefore fail to ask for help. Thus, parents are encouraged during this time of the year to have their children undergo a comprehensive vision exam.

The vision therapy center in Austin offers a complimentary consultation to allow parents to discuss their children's visual system concerns and the recommended potential next steps. They ensure that a comprehensive exam will be provided. They pride themselves in being able to offer the most comprehensive strategies for treating poor visual efficiency, delayed vision development, learning disabilities, attention deficit disorders, strabismus and amblyopia, and traumatic brain injury.

Dr. Denise Smith, founder and clinical director of the Austin vision center, says: "I am an optometrist by trade and an optimist at heart. I believe that no matter how difficult or complex things are, there is always a solution. At Austin Vision Therapy Center, my main duty is to diagnose and treat visual disorders that negatively affect people’s lives. I give people options that they didn’t have before; that they didn’t even know existed. I lead my team to think outside the box we strive to provide the most comprehensive approach to care in Austin, even when it goes against the norm. And I am not afraid to grow as a physician to provide my patients with the most resources for success."

On the center's Facebook page, Larry Fitzgerald of the Arizona Cardinals says, "Optometric vision therapy made a big difference in my life and my career. I was fortunate that my vision problems were caught early in life. Learning-related vision problems can have a serious impact on a child's education. Don't wait. Take action today."

Parents have expressed their happiness and satisfaction about the services they have received. For instance, one parent says, "Center for Vision Development have really helped my son. Since last year September he started I have seen a lot of improvements with his eye. He is progressing and reaching his goals. Am very hopeful he will accomplish so much and do better in school. Dr. Smith is an amazing doctor; she is very nice and passionate about helping kids with vision disability."

Another parent says on Facebook, "Dr Bailey has been working with my son for several months. We have seen amazing results with his reading, tracking objects and the feedback we're receiving at school has been fantastic. We highly recommend vision therapy and are very thankful for the fabulous team at The Center of Vision Development."

A third parent says on Facebook, "My daughter actually saw both Julie and Travis today but Dr. Smith and her whole staff are wonderful. My daughter has struggled with reading since she was in the 1st grade, she is now in the 7th grade. Since starting the therapy a year ago, she loves to read. She still has a ways to go but with the help of Dr. Smith and her staff, I know she will get where she needs to be."

Dr. Denise Smith explains that their approach to vision development is comprehensive. They do not just address visual skills like focusing, tracking, visual perception and eye teaming, but they also include the primitive reflexes, vestibular system, balancing the nervous system, motor skills, and nutrition. She also stresses that their programs are constantly evolving and the techniques they use are tried and true.

Austin Vision Therapy Center was founded in 2004 and is led by Dr. Denise Smith and a competent team. She declares that she has one dream and that is to revolutionize the lives of people who want something that is different from the usual treatment strategies that have been designed just to alleviate the symptoms. She believes that they have achieved that goal. Nevertheless, they are constantly improving their methods and aim to increase the number of people who can benefit from their services. They also ensure that the service they provide is personalized for each patient. They want to stress that at the end of the end of the day, it is all about the patient that is important.

Parents are encouraged to contact the vision center through their website at http://austinvisiontherapycenter.com/ or through their Facebook page. Those interested may also phone them or use the online contact form on their website to schedule an appointment.
