Dan Faggella, owner of TechEmergence and Science of Skill, which are remotely run with only one full-time employee, has announced that he has hit $2 million in revenue, which represents a 1100 percent growth in just the last three years. Just last year, ScienceofSkill.com was covered in an interview in Forbes for being a zero-employee company that hit $1 million in revenue in 2015. Those interested can view the article in Forbes.

Dan Faggella is the CEO and founder of TechEmergence as well as the Science of Skill. He says, "When we started Science of Skill we aimed to grow fast, serve customers well, and run a lean and remote team. Hitting $2 million in revenues in 2016 was victory for our team and an expansion of our success from last year, we’re excited to be in the running for the Inc500 as such a young company.”

Science of Skill is a self-defense publishing and eCommerce business with no office. Faggella recently moved to San Francisco to work on his other startup, TechEmergence.com, and the rest of the (mostly part time) team is spread across Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and India.

"I wanted to fund my Silicon Valley venture (TechEmergence) on my own, not with an investor’s money," says Faggella. "Science of Skill was an opportunity to use my grad school thesis on skill acquisition, and apply it to educational products in a market that I saw as exciting. Using eCommerce profit to start a new business always seemed like a better option than giving away equity and control too early on.”

The internet is abuzz with mentions of Dan Faggella and Science of Skill, from Forbes to Business Insider and beyond - as his company represents a fast-growing trend of extremely lean seven-figure and remotely-run businesses.

Prior to forming his company TechEmergence, Faggella graduated from UPENN with a master's degree in positive psychology, studying under Martin Seligman. He sold his first business in 2013 and moved to Boston to attend MIT Sloan classes and pursue his passion for the ethical concerns and societal impact of artificial intelligence.

His companies have grown substantially since their establishment, with Science of Skill, LLC expanding to more offerings and more than doubling subscriber growth each year since it was established. The company now serves a global market with subscribers in virtually every country across domains of self-defense and self-protection.
