The Cancer Journeys Foundation (CJF) is proud to announce that CJF Texas Ambassador Kent Leipold has coordinated with Texas Governor Greg Abbott to make September Prostate Cancer Awareness Month in Texas. The organization recently stated that as part of their goal of supporting the Stand Up To Cancer program, the month would be celebrated with various fundraisers and other events dedicated to making consumers more aware of prostate cancer throughout the state.

"Kent, himself a prostate cancer survivor, is one of our most active cancer ambassadors," said Robert Hess, Founder and CEO of the Cancer Journeys Foundation.

The Cancer Journeys Foundation is a national organization based in Manhattan Beach, California. The mission of CJF is to increase awareness about the critical need for cancer screening and to support the cancer journeys of the more than 14 million cancer survivors living in the United States. More about the organization can be seen on their official website at www.cancerjourneysfoundation.org.

"Katie Couric's StandUpToCancer Foundation is doing a fantastic job of raising funds for innovative cancer research and treatments. We are thrilled that we can do our part through our prostate cancer early detection App, ProstateTracker.org," said Hess.

Hess states that all cancers combined claim one American life every minute. Studies show that prostate cancer claims the life of one American man every 18 minutes. But, Hess says that it doesn't need to be that way. He states that screening and early detection is the key to finding the disease in its earliest stages and ensuring a more positive prognosis for the patient. Hess states that those interested in learning more about prostate cancer, including signs and symptoms to look for, can visit www.prostatetracker.org.

"Dedicated volunteers like Mr. Leipold and the men and women who currently support StandUpToCancer are critical to beating cancer and keeping families together," said Hess.

Katie Couric lost her husband several years ago to prostate cancer, which led to her forming the StandUpToCancer organization. Those interested in learning more about Couric's mission or how they can help with the organization's mission can visit their official website at www.standuptocancer.org.
