Michigan Company Announces Assistance For FAFSA Scholarships And College Financial Aid

Schollegiate College Prep and Tutoring, based in White Lake, MI, has announced counseling assistance and advice for students heading to college. The company states that in light of changes in FAFSA, they are now providing assistance with students and their parents who need to fill out paperwork for college tuition assistance.

The federal government has announced that in 2016, students will be able to file the FAFSA form three months earlier than they have in past semesters. "This is a wonderful change to the college financial aid process," states Lynette Bennett, spokesperson for Schollegiate College Prep and Tutoring. She observes that this earlier process will help families to review their financial aid awards, likely before they will feel the need to pay a deposit. In past years, many students paid their deposits before they ever even filed for financial aid.  Students and parents may even see their financial aid awards before the end of admissions season. 

"In this day and age where so many colleges are notifying students of admissions just weeks after they file applications in the fall, they have to wait up to six months for financial aid awards," states Lynette Bennett. "Hopefully next year they will get their financial aid awards up to three months sooner.  This is the best change I have seen in the financial process in the thirteen years I have been helping families."

Schollegiate offers assistance to students and their parents who need guidance when filling out the forms required to apply for financial aid and student loans, and that sometimes this paperwork can be rather confusing, particularly for those who have never applied for any type of scholarship or financial aid.  Last year our 53 students earned more than $11.3 million in scholarships.
