Paradigm Podiatry, a place where patients can look for a Fort Lauderdale podiatrist, is proud to announce that they have invested in a state of the art 3D foot scanner. This scanner is used for the production of custom orthotics. The ScanCast 3D is the most advanced piece of technology in the world of orthotics today and Paradigm Podiatry will use it to provide even better services to their patients.

"Adding the ScanCast 3D to our clinic was a significant investment, but one that we were more than willing to make," says Dr. Holder from Paradigm Podiatry. "It is the best machine out there in terms of making custom orthotics. We feel we can truly serve our patients better now that we have this machine, meaning that they will experience far better results as well."

The ScanCast 3D allows practitioners to ensure their patient's foot is properly positioned in a subtalar neutral position. It then creates a color image of the foot in 3D in under seven seconds. Because the image is three-dimensional, the South Florida custom orthotics specialist can then see the foot from all angles, as well as how the forefoot positions compared to the rearfoot.

The images captured by the device can be uploaded straight away. This allows for prescriptions to be instantly created. Additionally, data can be scanned allowing for faster laboratory processing. It can also be used in all types of weight bearing positions (off-weight bearing, semi-weight bearing and full-weight bearing).

"We want to use this new machine specifically to help our patients who also suffer from diabetes," adds Dr. Holder. "Footwear for people with diabetes should relieve pressure on the feet, reduce shear and shock, support, stabilize and accommodate deformities, and limit the motion of the foot. Thanks to the new scanner, we can make sure that any footwear we prescribe meets those specific requirements, thereby ensuring diabetes management is also improved."

People with diabetes often have very particular problems with their feet. At times, this may lead to a full amputation. This can be avoided by wearing proper orthotics. At the clinic that also serves Pembroke Pines wounds care is also addressed. This helps to further reduce the chance of significant complications on the feet.
