Best-selling author, personal development teacher, and online publisher Chris Cade has launched a new Facebook page that offers a community for learning from and sharing insights from the Enneagram. The page can be found at https://www.facebook.com/enneagramcommunity. Cade’s first experience with the Enneagram was in 2008 while a student of the Diamond Approach.

At the Facebook page, Cade posts thought-provoking quotes each day to help people learn more about it. People who are interested in knowing more about their type are also directed to a series of 9 free Enneagram videos that are facilitated by psychotherapist and best-selling author Rachel Alexandria.

Each is devoted to one of the nine respective Enneagram personality types. Each video gives instructions using “Emotional Freedom Technique” which is based on the practice of Chinese acupressure. Participants are invited to “tap along” with the videos to bring new understanding to their own Ennea-type. “We take EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique), or tapping, which is an acupressure method, and we apply that to specific type challenges, limiting beliefs, and stuck patterns that each type tend to have,” Alexandria said.

The “Enneagram of Personality”, or simply the “Enneagram” (from Greek meaning "nine") is a model of human personality that is based on 9 connected personality types. This typology can be used to gain insights into workplace dynamics, or as a spiritual teaching tool. There are may places online to take the personality test to determine what type of personality anyone may have. Search “Enneagram test” to find one. Most are free of charge, though some have a nominal fee such as the one from the Enneagram Institute.

Once a person knows his or her Enneagram personality type, Alexandria's videos facilitate viewers through a specific method to overcome the limitations of their type. She does this using a series of acupressure based tapping and affirmations. The tapping exercises are related to the 5000 year-old Chinese art of acupressure. These meridians are accessed via light tapping exercises that are related to mental health.

As many as 1 out of 5 Americans takes prescription mental health drugs a 22% rise since 2001, according to new statistics released by Medco Health Solutions, which monitors drug trends in insurance claims. While there is always a place and need for medicine prescribed by a doctor, there are other ways to achieve and support a healthy state of mind. "For people who are interested in a different way of working on their individual challenges, the Enneagram and these videos are an alternative I hope people will explore," Alexandria said.

Alexandria’s videos give very specific directions on where and how to tap along with affirmations to say while tapping. It uses precise finger placement and pressure over specific points. These points follow specific channels, known as meridians - the same channels used in acupuncture. The energy is called “qi” or “chi”. This energy is stored at the Dan Tien, a spot just below the belly button.

Healers and martial artists make extensive study and use of acupressure for self-defense and health purposes (chin na). The points or combinations of points are said to be used to manipulate or incapacitate an opponent. Also, martial artists regularly massage their own acupressure points in routines to remove blockages from their own meridians, claiming to thereby enhance their circulation and flexibility and keeping the points “soft,” or less vulnerable to an attack. More practically, chi is related to overall conditioning and force projection.

It is those same energies that Alexandria uses for the benefit of everyone who watches her series published by Cade on the new Enneagram Insights Facebook page.
