BloodThinnerHelp.com reports on Xarelto, a new-generation blood-thinning drug that has been alleged to cause spontaneous instances of uncontrollable bleeding resulting in long-term injuries or death in many cases. Since its release on the market it fast became the focus of a large number of lawsuits totaling more than 3,000 and have all been levied against Bayer AG and Janssen Pharmaceuticals, the makers of the drug.

One such case involves a woman who filed a lawsuit in a Vermont federal court on behalf of her deceased father who died suddenly of a parenchymal hemorrhage, more commonly known as a brain bleed. He was taking Xarelto at the time of his death and doctors were unable to save him since the drug prevented them from clotting his blood.

It should be noted that of the 3,000 cases, 2,800 are federal court suits from all across the country that were consolidated by the U.S. Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation (JPMDL). The multidistrict litigation (MDL) number 2592 is being overseen in a court in Louisiana. The reason such a large number of cases have been able to be consolidated is because they all bear strikingly similar allegations and have been filed against Janssen and Bayer, the defendants. Such a step to consolidate these cases together will serve to hasten the litigation process, thus saving time and money for all involved in bringing the cases to trial. Additionally, consolidation will help to prevent many different rulings by numerous judges.

The trials of those cases included in the MDL are progressing forward with the selection of a number of bellwether trials having occurred. At the end of February 2016, a monthly status conference was held.

An additional 550 having been lumped together in a mass tort program in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania by the Court of Common Pleas.

The Osborne firm is offering free consultations to anyone who suffered injury or hospitalization after a bleed while on Xarelto. Call (866) 425-8902 for more information about this release or the Xarelto litigation.
