Dr. Mark Hickman, from Microsurgical Vasectomy Reversals in New Braunfels, Texas, is sharing details about how he has worked over the years to reduce the cost to reverse a vasectomy with great success.

Soon after beginning his private practice in 1988, Dr. Hickman became an early pioneer in laparoscopic (minimally invasive telescopic) surgery. In the early days of the technology, it was exclusively used by Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons. However, Dr. Hickman was one of the first few in the nation to understand how that technology was set to have a major impact on a broad range of medical fields in the future.

can vasectomy be reversed

Today, Dr. Mark Hickman is widely regarded as an expert in the field and is often invited to teach his minimally invasive techniques to other surgeons. He has also invented several surgical instruments, has been awarded a US patent, and is recognized as a contributor to several other important minimally invasive patents.

Since the foundation of the clinic in New Braunfels, Dr. Hickman has focused his practice on reversing vasectomies for men and families from all over the United States. This focus is the result of his strong faith as a Christian man and his belief that vasectomies are harming those who rely on it as a method of family planning.

“I’ve talked to hundreds of patients who feel like they have made a mistake by undergoing a vasectomy,” says Dr. Hickman. “Whether it is the regret of never being able to have children again or the loss of their virility, my patients yearn for a way to get back the God-given gifts they have lost. So, I often get asked, can vasectomy be reversed? The answer is yes, absolutely, and I’ve worked my entire life to bring the cost of the procedure down to make it more affordable for my patients.”

During the procedure, Dr. Hickman begins by administering local anesthesia. Next, a small incision is made on each side of the scrotal skin. The two ends of the vas deferens are found and freed from the surrounding scar tissue. Dr. Hickman then does a microsurgical repair of the vas deferens using a Zeiss OPMI-MDM operating microscope utilizing a 10-0 nylon suture (much finer than a human hair). The repair requires 10-15 stitches and its goal is to create direct and careful alignment of the lumen of the two ends of the vas and a watertight closure.

“The procedure has delivered happiness time and time again to my patients who thank me for unlocking a whole new path for their future,” says Dr. Hickman. “The letters I get from them, and the reviews they leave me, fill me with joy and bolster my focus to keep providing the same high-quality services at an affordable price to anyone who needs them. You can find out more by reading the heartfelt testimonials on my website from men and families I’ve treated over the years.”

One testimonial says, “Just wanted to share our news with you! Travis had his reversal in January of 2013. He never went for the follow-up to have his count tested, so after a year or so of no baby we just assumed that it hadn’t worked, and another baby was not in God’s plan for us especially when he sent us another teenager to adopt. And just as we began the adoption process - we discovered that were in fact pregnant! Travis calls it our two-for-one special, a teenager, and an infant! Thank you so much for helping our family grow!”

Dr. Hickman offers two all-inclusive affordable options. The microsurgical vasectomy reversal cost option of $3,300 includes local anesthesia and an oral sedative. The $4,200 offer is performed under IV sedation and is administered by a Board Certified Anesthesiologist. Both microsurgical options are all-inclusive with no hidden fees.
