Dr. Mark Hickman, MD, FACS, a microsurgeon in New Braunfels, TX, is offering expert vasectomy reversal surgery to allow men who had vasectomy to become fathers again. He is offering two all-inclusive options. The first option is available at $3,300 and it includes the use of local anesthesia and an oral sedative. The second option is priced at $4,200 and involves the use of IV sedation, which is administered by a board certified anesthesiologist.
Dr. Mark Hickman says, “Vasectomy reversal is now being used to combat the onset of male depression following the original procedure, many patients have seen a return to their more virile days and a lifting of the ‘male fog.’ I have performed thousands of successful vas reversals over the course of my 26 year career leading to thousands of births and happy new parents. Will my all-inclusive offers, there are no surprises. Call today for your free consultation.”
Dr. Hickman also wants to encourage patients from other places aside from New Braunfels and even those from other states aside from Texas. To do that, he has come up with exclusive travel deals with several local hotels in New Braunfels. This will allow his out-of-town patients to receive as much as a 50 percent discount on their hotel accommodations. He also wants to highlight the fact that New Braunfels is a tourist town.
To perform the vasectomy reversal procedure, Dr. Hickman will do a microsurgical repair of the vas deferens with the aid of a powerful operating microscope and fine nylon suture. The primary purpose is to make a direct and careful alignment of the lumen of the two ends of the vas deferens.
As a vasectomy reversal surgeron, Dr. Hickman says, “I’ll be looking for the two ends of the vas deferens and free them from the surrounding scar tissue. I will do a microsurgical repair of the vas deferens using a Zeiss OPMI-MDM operating microscope utilizing 10-0 nylon suture. I will take a sample of fluid from the testicular end of the vas deferens and place this on a glass slide and examine it under a laboratory microscope.”
There are three possible scenarios after examining the sample fluid. The best possible scenario is that the fluid contains whole sperm. The second possibility, which is more common, is that the fluid is thin and does not contain whole sperm but instead sperm parts. The third scenario is that the fluid is pasty and thick and does not have any sperm at all. This last scenario usually indicates the presence of an obstruction, which is an epididymal blowout. This means that in addition to the vasovasostomy, Dr. Hickman will also need to perform a vasoepididymostomy. To optimize the possibility for a successful outcome, both procedures have to be done. To perform the vasoepididymostomy, Dr. Hickman will need to do a microscopic invagination of the epididymal tube into the lumen of the vas. But it should be noted that there will be no additional cost for the patient even if both repairs have to be performed.
Launched in 1988, Microsurgical Vasectomy Reversals by Dr. Mark Hickman benefits from his pioneering microsurgical and minimally invasive methods for vasectomy reversal. He was undergoing his general surgery residence training at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio when he came to know about the microsurgery techniques that were then being used in cosmetic and reconstructive surgery. Realizing the many advantages that microsurgery can provide for his patients, he decided to use microsurgery techniques for his vasectomy reversal practice. He was even able to design several surgical instruments for the minimally invasive procedure.
