Chicago, Illinois -

MeetPositives.com, the dating website for people with herpes, is sharing the results of a recent study that eases the fear associated with COVID-19 vaccines.

A recent study published in the JAMA Network Open journal examined the connection between the primary dose of the COVID-19 vaccine and an increased risk of herpes. The results from the study dispel the doubts raised by previous scientific publications that suggested that the first few doses of the COVID-19 vaccine may reactivate the latent varicella-zoster virus and lead to an individual showing symptoms of the infection.

Michael Task, the spokesperson for Meet Positives, commented on the results of the study by saying, “Ever since the pandemic reared its ugly head at the start of 2020, there has been an impassioned debate between different groups on how best to react to it. This led to a huge percentage of the population distrusting the efficacy and even the intentions behind the vaccine. The vaccine hesitancy was also exacerbated due to researchers who claimed early on that its dose could reinvigorate the varicella-zoster virus. Since those claims were based on seemingly sound scientific logic that took into consideration the biological mechanisms of the herpes virus, their skepticism felt warranted. However, there wasn’t any definite proof. Until now. With this new study that comes to us from the Department of Ophthalmology at the University of California, San Francisco, we can now confidently say that you can take the COVID shot without worrying about being at a risk for herpes.”

The authors of the research paper studied a cohort of over 2 million individuals who received a COVID-19 vaccine in US healthcare facilities. Following a self-controlled risk interval analysis, the study found that the incidence rate ratio of herpes zoster after COVID-19 was 0.91. The assessment for herpes was done 30 days after the first or second COVID-19 vaccine dose. The authors concluded the paper by writing, “These findings suggest COVID-19 vaccination is not associated with an increased risk of herpes zoster, which may help to address concerns about the safety profile of COVID-19 vaccines.”

The CEO of the STD dating platform, Jack Lombardi weighs in on the findings by saying, “Meet Positives, the herpes dating platform of choice for hundreds of thousands of Americans and STD-positive singles from other parts of the world, helps its users find love in a world that stigmatizes them for their affliction. So, in a way, fighting the fear that people have of the COVID-19 vaccine is not too different from what we do here at Meet Positives regularly. The fear that people have about STDs and the reservations they have about the COVID-19 vaccine originate from a similar place. They both stem from a lack of knowledge. It is human nature to have a fear of the unknown but scientific inquiry and data-driven results give us the tools we need to fight this misinformation. We have spent years in this battle and we will continue doing so to help the thousands of members who rely on our services to find others who feel their pain. We are grateful to the researchers for spending their valuable time and resources on this investigation.”

Meet Positives is the fastest-growing STD dating website and app for STD singles in major cities and rural areas across the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Europe, and Australia. The platform has an equally split gender ratio of 51% men and 49% women. The powerful search and messaging tools built into the platform allow its users to narrow potential prospects based on criteria such as STD, STI, age, gender, sexual preference, location, and more, and then helps them build a long-lasting connection.

Readers looking to sign up for the Meet Positives herpes dating platform can create an account on its website or download its Android app which is currently in beta. The company is also currently developing an iOS version of its platform for Apple users.
