North Texas Plumbing, a commercial plumbing company based in Watauga, TX, is happy to point out that they have a grease trap plumber team who are ready to offer grease trap installation and repair in Dallas, Fort Worth, and all of North Texas. Grease traps, or grease interceptors, are essential in restaurants, bars, inns, hotels, takeaways, coffee shops, schools, colleges, and bakeries in order to intercept or eliminate fats, oils and grease (FOG) from the wastewater to avoid clogging the pipes and in having a negative impact on the environment.

Marc Sims, owner of North Texas Plumbing, says, “Every restaurant owner knows grease traps are a necessity, but they are also a major headache when something goes wrong. If you are building your establishment it is important to get your grease trap installed the right way the first time so that you can get on with building your business instead of dealing with plumbing problems. That is why we handle all types of commercial plumbing jobs including grease traps. Getting your grease trap / grease interceptor installed or serviced by Dallas Fort Worth plumbers will save you both time and money. Our speedy service will have the job done quickly and our discount pricing will save you money. There are three kinds of grease trap that the grease interceptor plumber from North Texas Plumbing can install or repair. The most frequently encountered type is the passive type of grease trap because this is the most affordable and is therefore usually found in the smaller restaurants and bars. These are often installed under the sink and are available in a wide range of sizes to allow the establishments to choose the appropriate size for their food business operation. The smaller sizes are typically placed under the sinks but there are also bigger sizes for bigger commercial establishments that can handle larger volumes of wastewater.

For businesses that want the convenience of the operators not having to monitor the grease levels and the possibility of recycling the oil, the automatic grease trap or automatic grease removal units (AGRUs) may be recommended. AGRUs use the same principles used in the passive grease trap but with the addition of a way to automatically reheat and skim out the FOG according to a set schedule. The skimmed FOG is placed in a collector bin to allow for easy removal and recycling. The frequency of skimming will be dependent on the amount of FOG being collected and is scheduled in such a way that the operators will no longer have to check on the grease levels at regular intervals. The reason why AGRUs are not so common is their high initial acquisition cost. But for those who can afford it, the higher initial cost is outweighed by lower costs of operation and less frequent servicing.

The third type is the gravity grease trap, which is often used for large restaurants and other commercial establishments. The gravity grease trap works in the same way as the passive grease traps but they need to intercept a much larger amount of FOG and this is stored in big in-ground tanks that are made of steel, concrete or fiberglass. They are suitable for establishments with high flow wastewater systems. However, the FOG will accumulate in the tank and will have to be pumped out regularly by grease trap plumbers.
