Dr. Mark Hickman, a surgeon in New Braunfels, TX, is happy to announce that he is offering vasectomy reversal where he applies a microsurgical technique that he has pioneered. And with his all inclusive fee, the patient will have no surprises with regards to the total expenses. He also provides help to out-of-town patients from Louisiana, Texas, Oklahoma and across the country, where he has arranged exclusive travel deals with a number of local hotels allowing the patients to save as much as 50 percent of their hotel costs.
Dr. Mark Hickman is an expert in laparoscopic techniques and he has also invented a number of surgical instruments and he has even received a US patent. He has also been a contributor to a number of other minimally invasive patents. He launched his private practice in New Braunfels, TX, in 1988 and soon after, he became an expert in laparoscopic or minimally invasive telescopic surgery.
It is also important to note that vasectomy reversal is not only for male patients who want to have more children. It is also being used to fight the onset of male depression following vasectomy. In most cases, men who had vasectomy were satisfied because they no longer had to worry about any surprise pregnancies. But in some cases, men who were only pressured by their partner to get a vasectomy will feel depressed after the procedure. In some cases, the man feels less masculine because of the inability to produce children. Patients were able to get back their virility after the procedure.
Dr. Hickman will perform a microsurgical repair of the vas deferens using a powerful operating microscope and fine nylon suture. The aim of the procedure is to carefully align the lumen of the two ends of the vas and a watertight closure for a higher success rate.
Meanwhile, the cost to reverse a vasectomy by Dr. Hickman is $3,300, all-inclusive. There are actually two options. The $3,300 procedure includes an oral sedative and local anesthesia. There is a $4,200 option for a procedure that is performed under IV sedation that is administered by a board certified anesthesiologist. Both options are all-inclusive, with no hidden fees.
Vasectomy reversal doctors, when they perform microsurgical vasectomy reversal under local anesthesia, make a small incision on each side of the scrotal skin. This allows them to find the two ends of the vas deferens and free them from the surrounding scar tissue. Dr. Hickman does the microsurgical repair of the vas deferens by using a Zeiss OPMI-MDM operating microscope and 10-0 nylon suture. The aim of the procedure is to align the lumens of the two ends of the vas deferens and a watertight closure. A sample fluid is typically taken from the testicular end of the vas deferens and this fluid is examined under a microscope. This fluid should still contain sperm since the testicles should continue producing sperm after a vasectomy. There are three possible situations. One is where the fluid contains whole sperm, which is the best possible situation. The second possible situation is that the fluid is thin and contains only sperm parts or no whole sperm. The third situation is where the fluid is thick and pasty but does not contain sperm. The last situation is possibly due to an obstruction or epididymal blowout, which means that the vas is obstructed at two levels: one at the vasectomy site and the other by a rupture of the tube in the epididymis. For such a situation, a vasoepididymostomy must also be performed in addition to the vasovasostomy. The procedure for vasoepididymostomy is a microscopic invagination of the epididymal tube into the lumen of the vas deferens using 10-0 nylon sutures. There will be no additional cost for the patient.
