This article discusses the amount of time patients continue to benefit from the results of their Refractive Lens Exchange Surgery. Refractive Lens Exchange, or RLE, is a procedure that uses a clear implantable lens to replace the eye's natural lens to correct refractive errors and sharpen focus.

The procedure can use three categories of IOLs, or intraocular lenses, to replace the natural lens depending on the patients' individual visual needs and eye health: monofocal/fixed-focus IOLs, multifocal IOLS, and extended depth of focus (EDOF) IOLS. Each lens offers the clear vision in different distances, so a doctor can recommend the best lens for a particular patient based on their daily needs and current visual acuity.
