Atlanta, Georgia -

Atlanta, GA based Arrowhead Clinic is pleased to share insight with their community regarding the expectations a patient may have when visiting the chiropractor for the first time. The clinic hopes that this information can help move those considering their first appointment off the fence and in front of a chiropractor where they will receive help with their condition.

Before patients can visit the Atlanta chiropractor, they need to complete a few forms. These forms serve the purpose of bringing the clinic up to date on each new patient’s medical history and condition, including what symptoms they are currently experiencing, before they even arrive for their first appointment. “Our goal is to understand as much of you as possible prior to your appointment,” says Arrowhead Clinic, “because we have no intention of wasting your time or prolonging your treatment. There are certain details you can share with us without an examination, and we make full use of this opportunity in order to build a preliminary strategy for your treatment.”

What to Expect on your first visit to the chiropractor

Patients can give the clinic a number of pertinent details from the comfort of their homes during this stage, including when and how their pain began (for instance, should the pain have been caused in an auto accident, this information can be indicated here), where it is located, which activities led to either pain relief or exacerbation and so on. Following this, the patient can head in for their appointment, at which point their doctor will give them a more thorough chiropractic exam. Several tests will be carried out in order to check the patient’s blood pressure, respiration, pulse and even their reflexes. A number of orthopedic and neurological tests may be run to assess the patient’s postural stability, neurological integrity, muscle tone and more.

Along with the details previously shared with the clinic, the results of the chiropractic exam will allow their doctor to identify structural abnormalities in the patient—in turn allowing the clinic to promptly diagnose their condition. In the event of an accident, this stage will also allow the clinic to furnish the patient with compelling evidence that can help convince their insurance provider that they need chiropractic treatment.

Arrowhead Clinic’s primary physician is Dr. Summer Turner. Originally hailing from North Carolina, Dr. Turner has followed her career across the country in order to treat those who suffer from chronic pain. At the clinic, she uses the results of her patients diagnostic studies to develop specific goals for their personalized plan of care. In the short term, these goals involve lessening the patient’s pain and restoring their muscles and joints to normal function. In the long term, however, she generally makes it her mission to help her patients regain functional independence—she helps them acclimate themselves with their daily routine once more to the point it no longer causes them undue discomfort.

These results will also be used to develop a schedule for the patient based on their individual requirement. Dr. Turner may ask them to visit the clinic once a week or several times a week depending on how acute their treatment is at that point. This schedule is subject to change with the patient’s condition. Should they have any more inquiries regarding their first visit, patients are welcome to reach out to the clinic for further details.

Similarly, the present circumstances surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic mean that even existing patients who are comfortable with their chiropractor will require more information about the current code of conduct while on premises so they can maintain safe social distancing practices. As the clinic states in the COVID-19 Response statement, “At our clinics throughout Georgia and South Carolina, we have put processes and procedures in place that enable us to continue to serve you while keeping each of you and our staff safe. All our doctors and on-site staff are taking extra precautions.”

As part of these precautions, both staff and patients may be asked to have their temperature taken if other symptoms or risk is determined. Patients are also encouraged to wash their hands while at the facility, prior to their treatment, and they should remain at a safe distance from other patients in the clinic’s waiting room. On that note, while in-person chiropractic care would undoubtedly benefit them the most, the clinic reassures their patients that phone consults are available—and this form of treatment is encouraged for patients who are most at risk (such as the elderly and immuno-compromised).

Arrowhead Clinic’s full COVID-19 Response can be found on their website, along with many other details regarding their services and treatments. Interested parties are welcome to reach out to Johnny Brown of Arrowhead Clinic for more information, and they may connect with the clinic via their preferred social media platforms to stay abreast of Arrowhead Clinic’s most recent announcements.
