Amazing.com recently published an interview with Eric Toohey, a previous home remodeler from Austin, Texas who took the company’s Amazing Selling Machine (ASM) course to learn how to make money selling on Amazon. The Amazon FBA success story interview revealed that, as a result of using the tools and guidance he obtained from the course, Toohey made a sale on the very first day of his initial product launch, and was able to quit his job 3 weeks later. He admits he has since discovered a passion for creating products that Amazon customers want to buy and use. This uplifting story comes on the heels of Amazon offering its employees—who may not be so passionate about their jobs—up to $5,000 to quit.

Business Insider reports that in lieu of laying off its employees, Amazon is opting instead to offer an incentive to staff working in warehouses, customer-service centers, and offices around the US whose hearts may not be entirely in their work. According to Business Insider, this invitation is known to internal Amazon personnel as “The Offer,” and it’s a choice that Amazon gives its employees annually. Depending on their experience, Amazon employees can walk away with anywhere from $2,000 to $5,000 if they decide to leave the company.

Ashley Robinson, a spokesperson for Amazon, reportedly told Business Insider that Amazon wants “people working at Amazon who want to be here. Our goal is to encourage folks to take a moment and think about what they really want. In the long-term, we believe staying somewhere you don’t want to be isn’t healthy for our employees or for their company.”

Similarly, when Toohey quit his own job just a few weeks after selling his first product on Amazon, he was able to focus full-time on a business that he now enjoys an immense passion for and receives a great deal of satisfaction from. Today, Toohey sells over 20 products on Amazon, and reports even enjoying the hurdles that a new industry may throw at him.
