Minneapolis, Minnesota -

Ryan Garry LLC, a Minneapolis criminal defense attorney, is proud to announce that they have been able to successfully reduce their client's sentence. This trial was a tense one that was watched by many people. The former basketball star and his wife had been accused of mortgage fraud in the short sale of their MN home.

"The client realizes that his decisions regarding a short sale during the volatile 2011 real estate market represented a lack of judgment, for which he sincerely apologizes," says Ryan Garry himself. "He has always held himself to the highest degree of ethical standards both on and off the court. He has admitted his mistake and finalized a complete restitution settlement with Chase Bank."

Since the start of the case, Ryan Garry had stated that their client and his wife had to take responsibility for their actions, but they overall had no malicious intent. Rather, they exhibited a significant lack of action, which they now wish to make right. The verdict of the case means that neither one has to serve physical jail time, although they were found guilty of residential mortgage fraud. Both will also have to meet certain conditions if they are to continue to avoid jail time.

"Both the client and his wife pleaded guilty to mortgage fraud charges," adds Ryan Garry. "The case, therefore, was never about responsibility, it was about determining whether fraud had knowingly been committed, or whether there was an oversight. We have now been able to determine that it is the latter."

Their client is somewhat of a local celebrity. In 1998, he was a senior at the University of Minnesota, and helped them achieve an NIT title. He then went on to play in the NBA for the Los Angeles Lakers, Golden State Warriors and Minnesota Timberwolves. In 2001, he started playing for teams abroad.

According to Attorney Ryan Garry, it was clear that the situation his client was involved in was due to errors and lack of judgement on the part of his client. He has profusely apologized and agreed to do whatever it takes to make things right again, both with his own consciousness and with his community.
