Kari Dwinnell is running for the St Michael - Albertville (STMA) School Board at the election on November 8, 2016. The campaign, "Kari Dwinnell for STMA School Board" is increasing in popularity and it looks to be a very tight race. Along with six other candidates, she is hoping to secure one of the three available spots on the Board for the next four years.
"I believe my passion for our children, education, equity and our community make me an excellent addition to the STMA School Board," says Kari Dwinnell herself. "Please vote for me on November 8."
Dwinnell brings with her over four decades of experience. She is herself an alumna of St. Michael Catholic School and STMA High School. Over the past 12 years, she has served as a member of the St. Michael Catholic School Education Advisory Committee. Hence, she offers a unique perspective to the board, should she be elected.
Through her tenure on the Education Advisory Committee, she played a part in doubling the school's revenue, increasing enrollment by 50%, and providing guidance and oversight. One of her goals is to always reach consensus. Additionally, Dwinnell co-chaired the largest fundraiser of the school, increasing earnings by 25%.
Dwinnell is basing her STMA School Board 2016 campaign strongly on communication and creativity. She also advocates equity in funding. The STMA district is in the state's top 10%, but is the fifth least funded in the state, with 327 schools receiving more funding. The ability to do so much more with much less is one of her particular skills.
She aims to bring an objective open mind to the position. She is both eager and willing to devote the necessary time and energy into the community as a board member. In fact, her entire family is proud of being part of the STMA community and of the excellence the schools within the district offers. Dwinnell brings a passion for communities, equity, education, and the children and she believes this would make her an excellent addition to the Board. Voting will take place on November 8, and people are encouraged to vote for her.
