London, UK, SEP 18, 2015 – Sikh weddings offer quite a lot in cultural significance for a wedding couple and a good wedding photographer will know exactly what to capture. In keeping with their mission to educate photographers, Pixcellence (www.pixcellence.co.uk) has just published a new blog post entitled 'When an Asian Wedding Photographer Meets Sikh Culture in a Wedding.'

“When your country used to have an empire that covered a quarter of the world,” states Clwyd Probert, one half of the Pixcellence photography team. “The influx of cultures to and from the home country stays for good. From a small community in the U.K. before World War II, Indians have swelled to a population of more than 400,000, 97 percent of which are concentrated in England. Today, they’re just as British as any natural Briton.”

The article discusses a Huffington Post article by Wedding planning expert Raana Chaudhry which explains some specific dos and don’ts in a Sikh wedding  that even guests need to understand as the traditions and religious implications of the ceremonies ensure the sanctity of the occasion. Whether photographer or guest, not taking the wedding traditions seriously could get a guest escorted out of the ceremony.

The article describes several Sikh wedding ceremony customs that good photographers need to know. The Pixcellence article was authored by Probert, one of the founders of Pixcellence, the premier Asian wedding photographer in the UK and groom in a Sikh wedding ceremony himself.

“For instance, before you enter the main hall of the Gurdwara, a Sikh place of worship,” stated Probert. “One must take off their shoes. Everyone is barefoot during the ceremony. Not only does taking off your shoes show respect for the living spirit, it makes sitting cross-legged easier. The typical Gurdwara doesn’t provide chairs since everyone sits on the floor.”

With a reputation as one of the premier asian wedding photography teams, Pixcellence is a grouping of professional photographers in the UK offering coaching courses to help  photographers of all levels improve their photographic talents. Not only do they teach photographic techniques, but they also educate the public regarding cross-cultural wedding customs.
