April 12, 2016 - PRESSADVANTAGE -
A new restaurant has opened in the historic Hotel Sisters building in downtown Sisters, OR. The restaurant, Sisters Saloon & Ranch Grill, celebrated its grand opening on April 1st with an estimated 500 guests showing up to experience the new menu, enjoy live Western-themed entertainment, and explore the recently renovated building.
By the time doors opened for the event, a line had formed that wrapped around the block. The restaurant was at maximum capacity for most of the evening. Aaron Okura, the owner of Sisters Saloon & Ranch Grill, says: "I'm truly grateful for the overwhelming support we've received and for the opportunity to be a part of this amazing community."
Aaron Okura has been visiting Sisters for years with his wife Ashley Okura, a Sisters native. The opportunity to restore the iconic 1912 building and open a restaurant was the perfect fit for Aaron's extensive restaurant management experience and Ashley's interior design background. The couple relocated to Sisters about five months ago to take on the project.
Sisters Saloon & Ranch Grill serves what they describe as a contemporary approach to 'cowboy grub'. The chefs create each meal with high quality, fresh ingredients. The grass-fed beef used in the burgers, for example, comes from local Central Oregon ranches. The produce is locally sourced as much as possible. The full menu can be viewed at http://sisterssaloon.net/menu/.
The Okura's completely refreshed and restored the original woodwork and added a hand-troweled plaster to the walls, the same way it was done at the turn of the last century. They also added a replica 1910 sink to the men's room for further authenticity.
"I wanted to make sure our design was authentic to the period," says Ashley Okura. "We wanted our guests to feel as if they stepped back in time and we think we have achieved that."
The Sisters, Oregon community has been very excited about the new restaurant. They also look forward to the contribution the restaurant will make to the local music scene. As a musician himself, Aaron Okura will be hosting various events to showcase local artists and other members of the community.
