Owenton, Kentucky -

Broadlinc, a locally-owned high-speed internet provider, proudly announces the receipt of $9.2 million from the Kentucky Broadband Deployment Fund. This significant grant is set to revolutionize broadband access for numerous households and businesses across Owen and Muhlenberg Counties.

“This significant investment is a testament to our unwavering commitment to bridging the digital divide in Kentucky,” said President of Broadlinc Kerry Bowlin. “In places where the echo of the digital age has been faint, we are now amplifying it, ensuring that thousands of residents gain access to world-class broadband services."

Broadlinc has set out a comprehensive plan to use these funds to provide gigabit fiber services to approximately 3,600 homes in Owen County and another 400 in Muhlenberg County. "Based on the FCC Broadband Maps and our intensive research, these locations currently have either no service or are operating at speeds less than 25/3," said Broadlinc’s VP of Operations TJ Scott.

The technology behind this project will be the state-of-the-art XGSPON fiber optic network, capable of offering staggering speeds of 10gbps, with the potential to expand beyond 100gbps in the future. As part of the grant requirements, Broadlinc will be conducting regular testing and benchmarking to ensure the highest quality of service.

With this initiative, Broadlinc is committed to impacting approximately 4,000 homes, bridging the digital divide, and ushering in a new era of connectivity. The project will also have a positive economic footprint, with plans to add up to 20 new local jobs in the areas covered as the broadband footprint grows.

The company has always championed affordability and accessibility. "Our participation in the FCC’s Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP) underscores our commitment to ensure that our services remain within reach for all, including low-income individuals and families," adds TJ Scott.

Broadlinc's initiatives promise more than just internet access. They bring along opportunities for families and businesses, enhancing property values and paving the way for remote work and learning possibilities. “The ripple effects of reliable broadband are profound – from bolstering home values to enabling remote work and learning, this is more than an internet connection; it's a lifeline to the future," said Kerry Bowlin. And the future looks even brighter. The company plans to tap into the $42Billion Broadband Equity And Development (BEAD) fund, with $1.1 billion awarded to Kentucky, in 2024 to reach even more homes with unmatched service and customer care.

The relationship between Broadlinc and the public sector has been foundational to these advancements. "Such projects wouldn't see the light of day without public partnerships. Our vision for the future is to expand our reach, ensuring no home remains out of our service range," said TJ Scott.

The Kentucky Broadband Deployment Fund is a state initiative aimed at expanding high-speed internet access across Kentucky's underserved and rural areas.
