Blue Valley Physical Therapy (BVPT) is excited to announce, in addition to their current locations in Southern Johnson County and Olathe, that they will be opening a third practice in Overland Park, Kansas. This location is proud to offer Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy, as well as Oriental Medicine Therapies performed by Acupuncturist Sandra Wilkes. The Owner and founder, Ann Todd Cooper of Blue Valley Physical Therapy, states "Our goals are to have patients feeling better in the shortest possible time and to save money on their total medical expenses. With our new clinic conveniently located within their community, people suffering from injury will have direct access to outstanding rehabilitation that will help them achieve both of these goals.”

Recent research has shown that early referral to physical therapy (PT) is vital to keeping the costs down for patients and practitioners alike. In fact, the cumulative lower back pain (LBP) related costs can be lowered by as much as 60%. It was also found that the initial management decisions that are made after a new LBP episode are vital to how well PT works and how much it costs. Through early PT referral, patients find they have less need for lumbar spinal injections, advanced imaging, opioids, and lumbar spine surgery. Having direct access to physical therapy services as early as possible has been a proven method that results in a substantial reduction in subsequent healthcare and total medical costs.

The new office is slated for opening in late November, with an Open House scheduled for December 1st from 1:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., and will be located at 119th and Quivira in Overland Park. There will be a ribbon cutting ceremony at 5:30 p.m., and the company is delighted to have Stan Cramer performing the honors.

“We hope the community will join us for the Open House on December 1st, 2015,” says Clinical Director Melissa Church.

The Open House agenda includes free educational health talks, which will be held during the day, a ribbon cutting, and free 15-minute physical therapy consultations all day, free 15-minute oriental medicine consultations from 1:00 to 4:30, free giveaways, food and drinks, and then a happy hour from 4:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

The schedule for the educational health talks is as follows: 1:00 – Low Back Pain, 1:30 – Aging Healthy, 2:00 – Dizziness/Fall Prevention, 2:30 – Running Injuries, 3:00- Acupuncture/Oriental Medicine, 3:30 – Plantar Fasciitis/ Kinesio Tape, 4:00 – Gary Gribble Running Sports Presentation.
