Better Together Raffle helps support ARC-Gateway

Pensacola, Fla. - ARC-Gateway is a non-profit organization that serves children and adults who have or are at risk of developmental disabilities. With a rich history of service to the Panhandle, Rotary clubs in Pensacola decided to lend the hand of Rotary at the local level for fundraising. For this project, the three presidents of Pensacola North, Seville Rotary, and Cordova Rotary clubs came together for what they determined to be the “Better Together Raffle”. They planned a joint fund-raiser that began in mid-summer and culminated with a drawing for the raffle on August 27th. The winner of the raffle won a gourmet, 4-Course Dinner-For-6 to be prepared and served in the winner’s home. With minimal expenses (ticket printing costs were mostly “donated” by a relative) they were able to raise $3875 for ARC-Gateway.

In addition, the drawing provided an occasion for a special joint event where all the three Rotary clubs and members from ARC were invited to Bayview Park in Pensacola for the drawing. The event had local food trucks: Jumping Loma, Dadgum Good BBQ, and Sneaky Tiki Shaved Ice for the Rotarians and guests to enjoy.

Despite the fear of rain (it had rained every day for the last month), the weather held off and the chef for the dinner (Robert Simpson) drew the winning ticket. The winner was a member of Cordova Rotary.

The three presidents of Pensacola North, Cordova, and Seville Rotary clubs would like to thank all the members for supporting the Better Together Raffle. This project helped further the mission ARC-Gateway and highlighted the power of combined Rotary clubs.
